Pixel 6 owner here. I word of warning.
the reviews stating the slow finger print reader is concerning.
If i can go back in time, I would not buy the pixel 6 because the fingerprint reader is embarrassingly slow and misreads if you change lighting conditions. It's simply awful and makes checking the phone a chore. I hate it. No screen protector issue, not my phone (it was exchanged), and it's a common complaint. If you are coming from a phone that had even an average sensor, this will annoy you to no end.

The Google Tensor chips have such unreliable and poor mobile connections that a significant number of users have to reboot regularly or toggle airplane mode on/off just to get data working. It always happens when i drive. Check reddits pixel subs for more info. It doesn't look like any of those issues will be fixed because they simply aren't fixed in the flagships.
It seems to be an issue when you transition towers, so if you travel a lot or travel through dead zones, it'll happen more frequently. An unacceptable problem most in-studio reviews don't address, but real-world users struggle with, and have been since launch.

warning: This kind of trade in deal came around 1.5 yrs ago for 4a 5g. The say they will respect trade in value if old phone is received within a month of you receiving the new phone. But then they delayed the return pkg . And instead of giving $285 trade in value they gave $15. Everyone had to fight with customer care to get back the money. And they have terrible customer care.

Several reviews of the final product are indicating it's pretty similar to the 6 and 6 Pro. Some early stories and very early (unofficial) hands on videos said it was a faster sensor, but many of the reviews coming out today of the production model ay it's similar in speed. Maybe a hair faster here and there, but not so much as to make a noticeable difference in day-to-day use.

Check your Amex, you may have $25 off Google Fi for purchases of $50 or more. In case you want to go that route. Some people reported getting $75 off in Amex credits for the phone purchases, but I cannot confirm that.
thanks for the heads up. the problem with this route is that the same phone in the same condition is being offered for $100 trade in when I do it through the Google Fi store vs $300 from the main Google page (Pixel 4A 5G).

Didn't know that. I still have 20 something days before I can buy another phone on Fi. Got into the S22 Promo to port the line.

Are you able to see the credit in your account?
Yep looking at the order history it shows the order and then in the corner it says store credit earned $44.90

You should also see the Google One store credit on the shopping cart prior to checking out. After the order has been placed the credit amount will show on the Order history page and on the individual order itself.

How many orders did you place for the Google Pixel 6A and around what time did you place them?

Just to make sure, if the trade in value we get is lower and some garbage value, we can always ask for the phone back AND return the Pixel 6a as well right?

Assuming you didn't already have store credit before ordering... if you go to Settings the credit will show as $0. Then 30 days after the device has shipped if you are still a Google One member then the credit will post to your account on the Google Store. Once your account is credited with either the 3% or 10% credit for the order, you should be able to safely downgrade your plan or cancel your membership if you no longer have a need for your current plan.

I was debating whether to upgrade from 4a 5G. after seeing this post I decided not to, esp the finger print sensor at the back of the phone is too convenient for me.
So true. I hate the P6 in screen finger print unlock. YouTube reviews of 6a shows that it is slow to unlock still. Gonna skip 6a and see what 7 or 7a has for show

Cant believe they still recycle the old 12mp sensor from pixel3 here. That means no improvement over old Pixel4a, just like stated from others..

$300 bucks trade in for my iPhone SE2 is a pleasant surprise. Swappa has it at $200 max.

I am tempted because of that as well but the reviews of 6a is just not good with display and fingerprint issues

Chances are pretty high considering the 7a will release around the same time next year and that's when the 4a series will be end of life
Sure, that's possible but I don't know that I'd take the chance. This already seemed like a mistake because what they're offering for a model "3 versions" prior is insane. I don't think they've done it before and can't be sure they'd do it again. Maybe this is to help overcome the bad things floating around about the Pixel 6. Maybe (hopefully) that won't be the case with the 7. But either way the 6a is likely to be a better and safer future value.

FYI - I was quoted $295 trade-in credit for my pixel 3a with cracked screen at Google 🙂 and got the free pixel buds. feels like a heck of a deal to me!

edit- I purchased unlocked without a Google Fi plan
Did exactly same deal here, have a screen cracked but functional Pixel 3a which I bought from best buy as Open Box for $200 (Purchased in offer for $300 with $100 BB E-Gift card).
If I get $295 from Google, they are giving me more than I paid after 2.5 years of usage.
