The only thing you want end up replacing is the whisker biscuit. The sight on my PSE Stinger X RTH literally broke off during a shot. Expect to drop another $100 in accessories, not including arrows and field points. $50 for a target. Things to think about since the price may make you jump on it
It's an arrow rest.

How do you know? If he's new to compound bows, this may be an okay starter for him. Then he can teach you the sport.
Tough to share a bow sighted in for a single user and be accurate. A nice recurve open sights is fun and can be easily shared for backyard fun. Good place to start and see who wants to grow with the hobby. These entry level bows are great for getting into bow hunting, they adjust to fit and can definitely be deadly in a practiced hand. But if they ever need a string replaced (my first entry level bow did very prematurely the cams where string eaters and the string was very cheap) it was not worth the money to invest in. I sold it for cheap and invested in a great bow that has held up more respectably and shoots like a dream. The starter bow lasted long enough for me to learn, enjoy it and even harvest a white tail, it was a great affordable start. Hunting can be cheap or very expensive, I started cheap, loved the lifestyle …. Now transitioned to expensive. Save the money on not buying the latest and greatest and spend more time on scent control and wind management. Cheap or expensive bows can't kill anything they never get a chance to see. Less than 3 months away…. Get shootin!!!!!!

Small person or kids bow due to shorter draw length.

Would this be good for beginner archery? I'm never going to use it to do any real hunting, but possibly for backyard target practice for me and my kids

Great value in a name band brand bow. Sight is not high quality but will suffice for a beginner. Max 50 pound pull good for youth, ladies and smaller men or anybody with shoulder problems. Good reviews.
