They're fine CPUs. In some ways, better than the crippled 12th gen ones.

This is a very good CPU, especially for overclockers. The motherboard is impressive, too (including both wifi and 2.5Gb ethernet).

If I were building a system right now, I'd grab this deal in a heartbeat. (Currently running a 10700K with a 3090, all water cooled.)

Decent deal, not a great one cause 12th gen i7 probably going on sale soon too. The difference is enough to cause buyer remorse.....

Meh board and a generation old CPU. The 12th gen cpus are fantastic, but the 11th gen not so much. A I5 12th gen would do you better.

How much is a comparable Z690 board and 12th generation i5? Is the performance gain worth any extra cost?

Geez. I paid $475 for my 10700K and Asus Prime Z490-A board combo. At the time it was a good deal so this is a pretty great deal unless you want the bleeding edge or something more efficient.

This seems "ok" You could get better performance but it would cost a little bit more than this combo.

We are heading to August in about a week. At this time, I wouldn't even consider 12th gen unless there is a real deal going on because 13th gen is scheduled to come out in late q3 or q4. Once 13th gen is out, there will be some price cuts on 12th gen. 12th gen is quite good in my opinion. I would skip this 11th gen deal.

Since I don't know what your exact needs are I'm just going by what I would build, I'd probably go with something like a 5700x with a B450 Aorus M (300 before tax so only 30 dollars more). Alternatively you could go with a 5600x or 5600 with the same B450 Aorus M and pay LESS than this combo but still get roughly 95% of the overall performance while using noticably less power and having a much cooler running CPU.

This is great for video maker because HD770 had great decoding capability for anything H265 or 10 bit
