An honest opinion from a brand new player..

I started playing this game from ME1 having never played this series. I have always heard about this and never took the second look this game deserved and I am sorely regretting it. If you can get past the dated gameplay and rigid controls ME1 still stands on its own as a solid masterpiece. The lore in this game is incredible and it's honestly like reading a really good book. This is only the third time in my life I read absolutely everything a game had in text format. That being said whatever they did to the graphics in the remaster is nice and even though it came out in 2007 it still looks really good outside of the level design and older textures.

ME2 is like playing a passion project from ME1. The continuation of choices I made in the first one are showing heavily in the story and lore in the second one and it is honestly incredible even to today's standards. I am halfway through ME2 right now but honestly besides the controls still being a bit stiff the graphics from the 3 year difference from ME1 show big time.

This series is well worth a first play or even a second play through if you enjoyed it in the past. Between the graphical and quality of life improvements and the DLC this would be worth the full price tag at $60 for me.

In conclusion I will be buying this even though I currently have it on game pass. Even if I never play it again the $20 is worth it just to support the developers. I say get it and don't even wait for a price drop especially if you don't have game pass 😀
This is kind of true for Xbox. Since this is a Smart Delivery game on the Xbox consoles, only the Xbox One version of the files are on the disc. If you're on Series X, it'll end up downloading the entire game after you insert the disc. If you disconnect from the internet and force it to install from disc, the game won't actually boot on Series X, it'll say it needs and update and you have to go online, which at that point it'll re-download the entire game. So just be aware of that.

How can you tell which games have XsX files on the disc? Just wondering if you know. tia

Played through all 3 plus the Andromeda game (which was same universe but different flavor and story).

Great series, definitely worth the playthrough if you have the time. It's a big investment of time.

Pretty much any game that says "Smart Delivery" on the box will only have the Xbox One files on disc. If you have a Series X and insert a Smart Delivery game, the disc basically acts as a license and it will download the Series X version of the game. Now games that are not Smart Delivery should have the Series X files on disc. There are only a handful of these out now but as we get more into this generation and support for Xbox One is dropped we'll start seeing less and less Smart Delivery titles and you'll be able to install more games entirely from the disc on Series X.

Thank you for not spoiling it, I am not quite there yet. A bit bummed that the 3rd won't be as good but I think if it is even half as good as the first two with better graphics and improved controls I am still going to be extremely happy.
It depends on who you are. I personally enjoyed 3 more than 2, although I'm probably in the minority on that, some of the emotional beats in 3 hit harder than 2 for me. Remembering that Mass effect has a lot of choices, and how I am as a gamer now (completing every side mission before continuing on with the main story to maximize all possible options), there's a mission or two where if I had taken all the steps to ensure the happiest possible ending, might not have been as impactful (not going to spoil anymore than that) and I wonder if the people who don't care for 3 got to experience those missions the same way I did, ending aside (which also didn't bother me either at first but is definitely understandable, it's not bad but it should have been at the very least, really good) I also preferred the gameplay in 3 more than 2.

So yeah, don't get too bummed, your opinion, like mine, may not end up being a part of the general consensus.

BestBuy never offered free shipping on eBay. I know because I looked as soon as this went on sale. Usually free shipping is available but I guess BB got wise to it.
Not only did they offer free shipping, it's still available:

I have the entire series on Xbox 36O (2 & 3 still in plastic) in my library of backlogged games. Have always wanted to play them but haven't gotten around to it. I've been feeling the call since the Legendary Edition came out, but I can't decide whether to just play the old versions or get the remaster. Are the visual upgrades worth losing the female tushies? Will it matter much? I'm usually fine with playing older games, it's not just about graphics for me. Will I appreciate Legendary that much more? I should also mention I don't have the DLC, some of which are required playing from what I've heard.

Mass Effect 1>Mass Effect 3>Mass Effect 2. I also recommend Knights of the old republic 1,2, Dragon Age Origins and Awakenings.

There are other quality of life upgrades in the Legendary edition. Go that route IMO.

There are mods for the PC version to re-add some "content" that was removed.

I just played through this on Xbox one, and it is fantastic. I highly recommend it. Each game has story and lore like a Bethesda RPG (slightly shorter), but without using a completely open overworld. The fact that my dialog choice from ME1 impacts the story in ME 3 is truly impressive and immersive storytelling, and allows for a lot of replay value. In fact it makes most sense to play 1,2,3 straight through as one game. In terms of how legendary edition is different—Playing the legendary edition of mass effect one felt similar to paying halo one in the master chief collection. The gameplay mechanics are old but the graphics and controls are updated enough to make it enjoyable and consistent through the sequels.

This is an action RPG. so you spend maybe half your time in 3rd person combat, and the other half in exploring and fully-voiced dialog sequences and cutscenes.

Playing ME1 as a soldier with Tali and Kiara as support makes the game so easy. Didn't know how powerful they are as a trio. Absolutely goes out the window in 2 and 3
