Here is a REALLY detailed breakdown for those who care. If you are looking for a $250 laptop you might not care all that much though.

Really thankful to OP for this. I am a slickdealer and techgeek for years now. I bought my current laptop from a TigerDirect deal last year that was insane for a premium machine. But my girlfriend is studying for LSATs and her computer finally crapped out (our old college laptop from 7 years ago). She didn't want to spend a lot of money so I tried to talk her into the Ideapad 5 Pro from costco about a month ago for $550 as it seemed like a fantastic deal for a premium laptop. She still thought it was a lot, and sure, fine, $550 is a lot for many people, and I am a cheap slickdealer, but I thought it was a great deal. But now with this, I think we got both affordable and usability!

She will love this! I just went ahead and bought it. She mainly needs better ram and storage. This being a decently new i5 is a cherry on top. She is not a tech geek so the screen should be fine. And to top it all off, OTD was $265.

I will set it up for her tomorrow and see how it holds up. I can give an update/first hands review when I am done with its setup!

Edit: I posted a small first hands review and wanted to put it here in case more people could see it. Also, ours does charge on USB-C.

So I picked it up last night and opened it to see how the general build quality was. Everything felt great. The top cover I believe is metal. The bottom is plastic. Keyboard is decent actually so far. I don't like the layout, but travel seems to be decent. Screen is alright. Not the brightest, but we should not expect that at this price. Colors are fine, I am guessing this is somewhere in the middle of 45 to 72 NTSC.

Setting up was quick and she seems to be able to use it fairly fine. I made sure that it had all internals. I am weird about that stuff so I just make sure. 16 gigs ram, i5, SSD. All checked out. I saw a youtube video about this exact same laptop from I believe ETA prime and apparently, the BIOS is decently untouched, so you can go and tinker. He upped the TDP on the i5 from 15 to 30 and it doubled his benchmark scores. We won't be doing that yet unless she thinks it's slow but it feels speedy even to me. I am sure that bump could also eat battery life if not plugged into power.

Seriously, it felt good enough that for $265 OTD I went and bought another this morning to have around as a spare laptop. As someone else mentioned, the internal components alone are probably worth more than the price. I am getting a keyboard, screen, fan, and chassis for free.

And yes, mine also has a spot for an SSD upgrade.

Hope this helps someone!

Ask an employee in the electronics department. There weren't any display models out, but brickseek said they had 6+ and sure enough they did.

Okay so they just basically go check in their inventory?

Wow, an actual SlickDeal. Crazy specs for the price. The last cheap but well-spec'd Gateway I got from Walmart runs super hot, but it still performs, Repped!

Return/Rebuys still work, right?
So you buy online, return and rebuy at a store with lower price?

Tried checking a "limited stock" around me from brickseek, but had no luck finding anything.

Didn't have success myself, but my mom in South FL found a black and a blue one for the kids! Hopefully these will play BeamNG well! I understand the Intel Xe graphics are supposed to be a real step up for integrated.

It's not that ridiculous of a question. Some Chromebooks with 11th gen i5 processors have thunderbolt ports.

I did that a lot in years past for phones at both Walmart and target. Usually easiest to say you wanted to put it on a different card.

It's been a few years but I'd expect the price at the store to stick

Brickseek shows stock around 60620. Very good price so I hope others are able to actually purchase it.
Did you also check your WM app for pickup in that same store?

My search on BS said one color was in stock (2-3), Through my WM app it said not in stock at the store. If I get by there I will check, but I'm not making a special trip tonight.

The issues I find are that WM workers (I use the term loosely) still don't want to bother looking if their stock says none. Only one of the options even showed any on BS available. I would love this deal to try one out with the specs even after reading complaints about this or that on these Gateway deals.

Got one. Only black color was in stock sadly but for the specs I'm hoping it holds up as a good spare laptop.

Could be possibly true. Read all the 1 star reviews on Walmart and most seem to be due to shipping/customer service issues. Comes with 1 year warranty through Gateway
I disagree. There seem to be a lot of complaint about the screen delaminating, keys on the keyboard no longer working and the unit hanging or bricking during upgrades.

There is one near me according to Brickseek, but the spec sheet says it only has a 4 hour battery, which is completely unacceptable. I guess I'll pass.
