i bought this laptop from BestBuy 2 years ago. After 1st year, it starts to get hot and shut down by itself randomly
Dust. Rogue programs. Bad driver or update. Stuck process.
There are so many things that would cause the CPU to overheat. I'm surprised you haven't asked your kids or any teen/young adult to look at it for you...

Bought one of these from new.techies... restarts randomly without prompt from day one. System logs show error code 41... basically hardware failure. I requested a return immediately. They didn't send the return label until I reminded them of the return. Now the laptop is back in their hands for several days, but they still haven't issued the refund.

Going through the same issue with them. I have a bad WiFi card and they told me it's the router's fault lol.I have done everything from rolling back drivers and now the computer won't boot or even boot from an external CD recovery. Still waiting on the return label. I guess I should send them an email about that return label lol

My guess is they just buy defective laptops in bulk from some warehouse, repackage the good-looking ones and resell as refurbished. Some percentage of the defective ones are still marginally usable, and they count on you not to return in time.
I don't think new.techies is running an honest business.
Oye... that does not sound that promising for the seller. I had seen another refurb laptop listed from them,.. missed the deal... I did hear that the seller is not that responsive..

Dude, it's eBay. Just escalate when you can and you win.
FYI I got this laptop from new.techies from a previous deal and was also getting the reboot and error 41. Instead of returning it to the seller, I made a service claim through Microsoft, as the purchase includes a 1-year Microsoft warranty.
I'm still waiting to get it back but I can update here regarding if they actually fixed it (apparently if they can't fix it, they'll just do a device replacement).
