Good price. Keep in mind though that you can pick up something like the Beelink MiniS (8GB/128GB) boxes for ~$160 each. The Celeron N5095's in them are a bit (~17%) slower than these i5 6500T's but use less than half the power (15W vs 35W), have all new components, a five generations newer iGPU (which can handle 2 x 4K HDR transcodes for those Plex/Jellyfin/etc users out there), more modern/capable WiFi connectivity, and a footprint barely larger than a well-portioned sandwich. The newer mini PCs featuring the Pentium Silver N6005 CPUs can be found for a bit more at $260, but are only ~5% slower in terms of CPU power and are less than 1/3 the TDP at 10W.

No... the $200 i3 Aspire XC has similar CPU TDP as i5-6500.

The $80 Aspire XC deal has J4125 CPU which has much lower TDP buy it is also much slower than i5 6500.

This is a good deal. Sometimes you can get from ebay for cheaper. I got one for $80 a few months back and it is still a very capable machine for handling all office work and streaming.

Compare CPU alone

Performance on I5 6500 is better 40~55% for the popular Acer Aspire XC Celeron® Processor J4125,Both are quad-core

But Celeron® Processor J4125 supports Win11 system

TDP on I5 6500 is 5 times more than J4125, about 50W ,J4125 10W

DELL Optiplex 5040 is more scalable but uses DDR3

If you don't mind/do not need it, Dell 5040 is good choice
1. win11
2. lower wattage
3.ddr3

If you can, you can get Win11 and DDr4 by choosing i5 7400 for the same price.

Good deal. But these units could have as much as 6-7 years on them. If I was in the market I would research the availability of a replacement Power Supply. Hardware wise that would be my only concern a few years down the line.

Add a low profile 2gb GPU for $20 and you got a screamer for $150.

Dell Optis are def robust, rarely had issues with any over 20+ years. The SFF will limit some expansion options but, decent deal @ this price given CPU, RAM, SSD, WIFI, peripherals, and Windows 11-able.

A very good consideration here given the relatively obscure motherboard power interface and associated power supply.

Also, for those interested in maintaining these as Windows PCs, a reminder that the upcoming Windows 10 support end date is October 2025. You could install Windows 11 on this PC, but the 6th generation CPU means an automatic upgrade to Windows 11 isn't supported [microsoft.com] (which is part of what drives the price so low in the resale market).

Ignore the comparisons to Atom-based systems or dings on the CPU horsepower. For this price this PC would be a solid "productivity" computer easily capable of providing a good user experience for running Office applications or general-purpose browsing (as is true for most every quad core, i-series PC). I think the $200 Acer systems mentioned in the thread have better potential as long-term investments (assuming decent reliability) given their support for Windows 11. I also personally prefer that the Acer deals were sold by the manufacturer, rather than a third-party seller on Amazon as is the case in this deal.

Good luck!
Jon

maybe before supply chain issues!
But now pricing the very minimun acceptable graphics card these days, GT 1030 @ about $100
Or step up to GTX 1650 for about $250
