Looking for college student, want to discourage gaming, won't be doing video editing, both of my kids have been using Intel graphics based pcs so they are used to mediocre graphics.
Before smartphones were powerful, there were Sony Vaio computers that were thin and small. Ux series were 4.5 inch that could fit in pockets with full functioning windows.
I literally just got done setting this up yesterday. So so for this price. I wouldn't buy it personally. The boot time is fast, but there is a slight lag when you trying to open apps. This could be due to Bitdefender software suite though. The keyboard have nice feedback and backlit. Too big in tablet mode in my opinion.
The desireable and popular Asus G14 3060 is currently $1100. I'm not paying over ~$700 for ANY laptop without a discrete GPU.
Retailers are stuck with inventory with lower sku specs that they want to charge top dollar for to differentiate between desktop prices..that is getting harder to do with so much inventory stuck in the supply chain.. infact it's bad enough for retail to try and hide this fact that they double ordered(some cases triple) because there were some isolated cases of order fulfillment not filled or going into the abyss of the pandemic problems not to be heard from again. I bet some day we will see products stuck in a container or warehouse unearthed decades later as a time capsule of this era

That has nothing to do with anything. $1000+ is too much for this laptop.

Thoughts?
Sadly, all disc gpu are too expensive... even in laptops! Retail is gonna play this game of chicken to see how long they want to sit on inventory
