Yes, this is a great starter guitar. I had one of these seven years ago and it was a very good value at the time. Getting this bundled with an amp is a really good deal.

To the twos of yeah feisty has a good starting point that I would like to elaborate on. This fall will be 30 years of playing. What music do you want to play? Either can pull off both just not as good but sometimes it's even better. Get both, these days you can pull that off for less than my first rig. The acoustic will help your technique your hand strength, dexterity and overall execution. There is almost no room for error. You're going to hear it. But when you get it right and those notes ring out, you'll know it and it's rewarding. That being said, it's hard on the hands fingertips and can deter because the difficulty of getting it right. That's where the electric comes in. Yeah you're going to hear your mistakes. That has a lot less stink to it. This can lead to a lot of good creativity many mistakes turn into masterpieces. Just my outlook on how I would do it if I were to do it all over it. You're picking hand. Do not neglect it. Focus on it. Get it right. The left hand will come in suit right behind it. Everyone so worried about their fretting hand that they develop poor noise control attack muting timing and correct notes, strings etc. And this long-winded and maybe not exactly what was asked for but I would have paid good money for honest advice from someone who truly knows about the instrument. Oh if you have a friend that plays ask them to set it up for you if they can. If not, have it set up properly. Focus on intonation and fret dressing. Good place to start. Also would like to add that Yamaha acoustics at any price (even their $150 range) are phenomenal.

Have a Yamaha that I've had for over 15 years that I bought for $200, still one of my favorite guitars to pick up and play to this day.

Well I assume that by traditional you mean acoustic. Acoustic vs electric is about preference. This is a great starter guitar setup. Very cheap but decent quality.

Many people say to learn on an acoustic then switch to electric but again that's up to you.

Also there is a program called Rocksmith that's pretty helpful learning to play

Nice thing about an electric like this is you can practice without waking anybody up - just don't plug it in!

This seems like a good deal for someone just starting out.

seems like a good deal / better than the tele deal from yesterday. would be a nice starter pack for someone getting into guitar. my monoprice guitar i ordered last year was perfectly playable and set up quite well right out of the box, with only some sharp frets holding it back. i'm primarily a bass player but use the monoprice guitar for recording ideas and it has been perfect for the job.

Depends on what you are wanting in a guitar imo. Electric you can hear very lightly without an amp but won't be enjoyable however great for practice since won't bother anyone. With an electric is you can tune the sounds to get the rock vibes but need electricity/amp which lets it get loud so you don't have to play the guitar harder to get more sound which is easier on the hands.

Acoustic is likely better if you only want 1 guitar and don't want to fuss with tuning guitar and amp or dont care about rock sounds or such. Will annoy anyone who hears you practice. Must play everything harder for louder sounds which can get tiresome for your everyday hobbyist.

Just a hobbyist opinion btw, know a few songs since I was young so I still play them and try to learn more but...
TLDR: Get electric if you have the time/space/energy/long term intent to play/love guitar and wanna dive deep.

I'm pretty sure I own this guitar, though in a different color. I wanted to use Rocksmith as well as some online class to learn how to play.

I dabbled then I took it over to a friend who does play quite well... and he liked it, but the fret-ends were sharp.

I took a 3 sided file, smoothed off one side (making it a 2 sided file with a 3rd smooth side) and went up and down the neck chamfering the frets on the top and bottom edges. I smoothed that third side so it wouldn't damage the neck. I'm sure there is a file already made just for that.

Now I think it is his guitar. He loves it... and he has a seriously sweet Gretch.

I just can't wrap my head around the guitar. I play piano and cello and can now play scales on a guitar but... nah. I don't think I'll ever get it. Good thing I own 3. Palm-face.

But yes, this package is a good deal for sure. Small amp but I suspect it will still anger the neighbors.

From what I understand, learning on an acoustic is a little better as it won't mask your mistakes and an electric will. Other than that... hell, get a good deal and start trying. If you wanna make music... by all means.. make music!

Anybody familiar by any chance with this particular app? I understand it's a practice amp and that it's in a beginner's bundle. While I don't exactly qualify as a beginner being that I started playing guitar roughly 26 years now so theoretically I know what it should be or should be expected of such practice amps. With that being said just curious if anybody is actually had their hands on this particular model and may have any valuable insight to the overall quality, tone, functionality, and most importantly sound quality if possible? Thanks in advance!

my question even though this is only one person's opinion spoke volumes on the amp itself which is what I was mostly concerned with I will post the comment below if anybody's interested in Reading it will be available thanks for your time and apologies for not research and prior to asking the questions above everyone have a great day cheers!

REVIEW FROM SITE :
When received it, I immediately noticed a 1/4? gouge on the c shape neck about 6th fret. Would have thought QC would have caught that one. After a couple hours of tuning and set up I actually got a reasonable sound. I think with upgrades it can be a fun guitar. Oh, and throw the amp away, guitar isn?t shielded and there is a whole lot of humming when gain is on. 3rd knob down tone button has almost zero effect. Get VOX headphone amp with DJ headphones. Inexpensive and get some great sounds. Also the strings are garbage. I stretched and stretched and it?s still losing tune. What can I say? Got a just ok guitar for $129. Forget the kit, buy a cheap guitar and upgrade it. Sorry for the bad news!
