From personal experience, it's much less cluttered with ads, consistently snappy and plays well in the apple ecosystem. Negatives are it doesn't have the same level of functionality as a shield.

FYI When you buy from Best Buy you also get an extended 30 day trial for fuboTV. On the Apple TV, fubo has multiview (think red zone quad box) which is awesome for sports

Not sure, but I've seen references to the possibility of a $99 Apple TV hittin the market, to be more competitive with Roku and Android TV boxes

The remote might have a built-in airtag equivalent tracker.
No official confirmation on this though.

And the box itself is expected to be based on A14, in which case the price may not be decreased.

Have you seen the "apps only" mode on the Chromecast with Google TV device? It provides a super-clean non-cluttered interface. Very sleek.

If I had other Apple devices I would grab this deal, for sure. But since I don't, it's hard (for me) to justify the extra price.

Also, I just remembered that the current Apple TV device doesn't have 5.1 audio for YouTube TV (and might not get it anytime soon). Since I use YouTube TV and also have a 5.1 surround sound system, this is important to me.
