Both the Amazon listing and the manufacturer's website [metabo-hpt.com] say that it's brushless.
They are brushless and much better than a black and decker set. I have these. Very compact drill and driver.

I have their 36v hammer drill as well. It's way bigger and heavier. The 18v drill does fine for most tasks.

I'm not very savvy with hardware tools, I just need something to drill around the house if I need to and a driver (which I assume is like an electric screwdriver?)

Would this set of bits work with these tools?

Yes it will work. It's not the greatest quality but a good enough basic kit just to get started. I'd keep an eye out for a deal on an 'Impact bit set'.

I have three Hitatchi/ Metabo 18v drills and I love them. However, I have 4 batteries that will no longer charge. They are stored charged and used frequently. I wish I knew what the problem was.
I used to take the old nicad batteries and hook them up to a car battery charger for a minute or two and they charged again. An old school charger that didn't have the safety needing to detect some charge.

Probably not a good idea, but it worked.

Yes. Makita over craftsman for sure. Both are better than Ryobi, which is better than Black and Decker, Harbor Freight and Hart (Walmart). I've worked construction for 20 years, everything from tiling and framing in my younger years, to now, which is kitchen design and installs. In my experience, never buy a cordless from Hart, Black and Decker, and Harbor Freight. Just don't. Ryobi is fine for weekly warrior, but if you go to work with one, everybody will think you spend your money on drugs. Craftsman is what your fathers buys, because they used to be good. I have never seen anyone with a Kobalt ever. Hitachi is a decent lower end starter. Rigid is too. Dewalt has decent tools with good batteries, so I like Dewalt, even if they are overpriced. Bosch and Makita are even more overpriced than Dewalt, but are pretty good cordless tools. The Red Army folks that use Milwaukee swear by them, but I don't like their weight or their price. Porter Cable is...well...I forgot they existed til just now. Festool and Hilti are for youtubers, not carpenters.

Just my 2 cents. You'll be happy with anything other than Harbor Freight, Hart, and Black and Decker. There really isn't a ton of difference beyond that for anyone who uses a drill and driver for 2 hours a week.

I've been using these for hours every day as I'm doing a rebuild on a house.
I think they're both excellent tools. They are not as big and powerful (and heavy) as a Dewalt but they are perfectly adequate for 95% of jobs. I have the smallest batteries and they are quite adequate for continuous use.
Both tools are quite light in weight but they are quite powerful. I really like the low weight on my toolbelt and holding them up and driving screws is a lot easier than with a heavier drill.
Here are the minor drawbacks. They don't come with a suspension clip for hanging them on a tool belt. You have to buy it separately and they're not cheap. They won't stand up when the battery is not installed, The charger has a red LED that flashes when ithe battery is done AND when there is no battery installed, it bugs me. I think the driver trigger is a tiny bit too sensitive, I have learned to use it but it wants to go to high power a little too quickly in my opinion.
That's it, I really think these are high quality tools that will stand up to a lot of abuse. I abuse then nad drop them and run them continuously until they're very hot and they work great. I highly recommend them. I think they beat Rigid and Ryobi very easily and they are solid competitors to Makita and Dewalt. I think you'll like them.

No. And if you are doing concrete work, I'd recommend an SDS+ drill. It's a little more expensive than a hammer drill, but not much, especially if you can find one on sale. But the performance difference is incredible compared to a hammer drill. Some old concrete is really really hard, and nearly impossible to drill with a hammer drill.

Weird how a company that's out of business still manufactures, advertises, and sells tools. Porter Cable very much in business.

Seems like a good deal but you're gonna get tired pretty quick swapping in and out those 1.5Ah batteries.

I'm a Milwaukee guy, been so for almost 2 decades now…but this is still an excellent deal, if you need to buy a good starter twin-drill set.

Plenty of pros use Hitachi and Makita, they used to be more expensive than the yellow and red. Also, some nativist folks just don't like buying non-American brands. Just don't tell them a Hong Kong (now Chinese) company owns Milwaukee.
I was recently at Home Depot.
All Milwaukee, Makita, and Ryobi tools were made in China.
A few DeWalt tools (usually the more expensive ones) were made in the US "with global materials", whatever that's supposed to mean.
My Hitachi tools were made in China.

I'm still on the lookout for anything that's not made in China. In general, I don't think it's a good idea to be supporting a country that's actively trying to undermine the one you live in.

you're assuming too much from the sight of a tool with a Porter Cable sticker on it.

I guess Budweiser, Jeep, and Porter Cable are all out of business, if we go by your standards.
