I feel like they would sell way more at a lower price point but I guess if you dominate the market you can do what you want lol.

I have been through a variety of smart LED bulbs, standard, ambient, and full RGBW. From my experience I would say that the best of the budget brands is Govee. They have a pretty solid app that is continuing to get feature updates and their camera solution for color matching screens is pretty solid and allows you to mix products. I would not recommend getting the lights that only work from BT as ones with Wifi will let you easily control from Google or Amazon smart devices.

All that being said, I have been converting most of my rooms to Hue. Their color quality and simplicity is just awesome.

This is dirt cheap for this product. Keep in mind that this can also be used to complete the "missing bottom lights" of a Hue Play Gradient strip setup. I will use the base strip to replace Play light bars on the bottom of my 82" QLED that look terrible since I switched the rest of the TV to Hue Play Gradient strip.

Do you get more zones the more you extend it?

I think this would be good to light up a cabinet, but I need it to be probably 15 ft. Right now I have a regular hue strip since all the other ones I tried were terrible (including Govee)

I'm curious about this but not sure if it will do what I'm looking to achieve. I currently have an 85" with the 75" gradient play connected to a hue sync box. I'd like to add this to the bottom to fill it in but will it still change colors with what playing on the tv or is this one solid color?
See my post #20. This will work like you are wanting it to. I also list out the other options in that post.

Haha I think it looks great if the person enjoys it. Thanks for the insight, I like the idea of mixing shades of red orange and yellow together in the evening so I'll stick with this one instead of getting one of the solid color ones
Agreed. The marketing materials are more subdued for sure. You will probably like the scenes "Savana Sunset" and "Honolulu".

I ordered one of these but don't have it in hand yet. I read somewhere today it doesn't add zones. But, if you look at the image I linked in post #45, you will see that the strip transitions colors. So, you will either have longer transitions or more transition colors as decided by the controller. You will, however, only be able to control the beginning, middle, and end color.

Interesting. I was still waiting on my order from the last gradient light strip sale. Scored just the 6ft for 108 but was backordered. Estimated 8/20-9/14 or something. This is cheaper for the 6ft in the bundle ($95) but adds a 3ft for $28 (discounted from $40?). Overall seems like a better deal if you need/want the extra 3ft extension.

I ordered this and canceled my 6ft. And as an added benefit it's shipping the 3ft extension overnight and the 6ft just updated to Wed delivery. So I even get it quicker. Bonus.

Is there a cheap brand that is compared to hue? I got only the Hue play light, but hue is so expensive that I decided to change the switches instead of bulbs, but maybe I think it's expensive because never had a full setup
Personally I like Govee as an alternative.

Would this work well in a semi-transparent LED channel? I'm looking for something with some dispersion that you cannot clearly see each bulb.

If you have an existing Hue Play Gradient Lightstrip behind your TV which uses the old Sync Box hardware, I believe the Play Tube product is better suited for the bottom, as you get seamless functionality and more possible colors pulled from the source image. This Bluetooth strip is a great price but may not work as you're thinking.

For my setup I just used a standard color light strip for the bottom of the TV and named bottom... Sadly, I only get a solid color for the bottom, and AFAIK, the Play Tube is the only product that integrates and gives the desired multiple colored and TV matching animated wash that fits perfectly with the other Play Products.

Please share proof if I am incorrect, And I am grabbing these right now, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Govee lights are the best for the price. They have some that work with wifi and Google as well. Philips are ridiculous in price.

I also have tried Govee lights. The nicer outdoor lamps are great but the indoor LED strips leave a bit to be desired compared to Hue. i.e. build, more colors and response time
It's all about cost for me hue is significantly better in most people's opinion, but personally I did not want to invest hundreds of dollars in TV lighting.
All 4 of my TV light strips in the house are Govee with wifi, including the immersion lights for my 65" living room OLED that change colors with what's on the screen.
Can't recommend the brand highly enough, they've worked flawlessly with Alexa every time and the immersion kit is awesome, even the wife loves them and she was in the "why do we need these lights" camp at first.

I need to get educated on these LED strip lights because I know I'm missing some crucial information when I see something like this for such a high price....May be Elton John personally performs while the light colors change. I Need to read more on this topic.

I had an option for an additional 15% off for a total of $104.03 before tax.
how'd you apply the 15% off to the gradient strip? It only shows up for the non-gradient one for me.

Does this work with HomeKit without a hub or is a hub needed?
