There are deals popping up on eBay all the time for 6th and 7th generation Intel CPU desktops with SSD and Windows 10 for less than $100. Seller sent me an offer on eBay item number 394187094679 (search sold items) today for $94.70 shipped, just because I viewed his listing, although it sold since then. It's an Optiplex 5050 SFF, i5-6500, 8GB, 128GB SSD, fresh load of Windows 11.

Check in at eBay regularly and set your search criteria for:

Desktop Computer
Price: less than $100
Sort by: newly listed

Your deal will show up sooner than later. I recently picked up a Dell 3040 SFF ready to go for $60 shipped, and it's a wonderful little machine. Looks brand new as well. And has native 4K HDMI output for my 4K monitor. Good times.

Wow, that sucks. From the description, Anker makes it seem that these desktops have really been thoroughly gone over, but it's probably more of like an open-box return situation, where they maybe plug these into an outlet to make sure they power up, and then consider it all good if it does.
Definitely no QA. As soon as I turn off the computer it automatically powers itself back on again. Only way I could power it off was to unplug the power cable or to turn off the power strip. It was a huge let down because the computer form factor was very small and compact and the appearance of it was as clean like a brand new computer.

This was meant for my older brother for his replacement computer that he had for 15 years. Hopefully you didn't buy one or will have better luck than me.

Did you ever OPEN up the unit and put in extra memory or other stuff, and then turn it on.

I bought a number of these acers and never had a problem. Now I did have a problem when I added ram to one of them , and the ram was faulty and did the behavior you are experiencing! Where it doesn't turn off... and restarts by itself.

Nothing added internally to the computer. I had a similar problem with my own desktop like you did. I accidentally bumped into it then it would kept restarting itself or it wouldn't power on. I had to unseat the RAM and put it back in and haven't had any problem since.

Back to the drawing board on finding my brother a decent desktop at this price. How long would these type of computer last you. You mentioned you also brought an Acer and was it refurbished?

Knowing what you know, maybe open the case, and see if the ram is seated right? Sounds like you have experience with PC's, so use your PC trouble-shooting skills to figure out the problem and solution. It didn't seem from your first post in this thread, you did much trouble-shooting on this, from what you wrote. These Acers are great PC's and Acer has sold thousands of them between the i5, i3, and celeron's the last few months.

p.s. I should add that I watched on YOUTUBE some pro's open up these Acer (refurbs) and showed how to add NVMe, SSD's , ram, graphic cards, ect. Even one video has complete teardown of the Acer , removing everything. Once I saw a few tear-downs and install videos on this exact acer model number, it was easy to trouble shoot the Acers. Who knows, you might feel comfortable with the ACER, that you buy one for yourself. I got the i5 and i3 and the Celeron refurbs, installed windows 11 on them, and put extra ram and SSD's in them.
Turn your bad experience into LEARNING experience. Smilie

Just got mine today, and noticed that the wifi signal was intermittent which make it hard to download the updates and even using the internet. I know I may not have a very strong wifi signal in my room but at least my phones and a laptop still have decent signal. I don't know if this is a common issue or I should just return it back.

Congrats on your new Acer!
I would give it a few days, to make sure you have all the updates installed. Are you using windows 10 or 11. I moved to windows 11, and also have 16 gb ram in my i3-10th gen Acer refurb and my i5-11th gen Acer refurb.

You can also use ethernet to connect too. I don't have any problems with my wifi signal. I don't think hardly anyone discussed it. What internet speed do you have, how far away from router is your new PC.

If it was an issue for many people the thread would be hopping with posts on wifi issue. Now, when I get a new PC, it takes a few days to get everything set up right. And going from windows 10 to windows 11 takes time too.

What PC were you using before you got this new ACER, laptop or desktop , how many years old, what OS was it using.

Also, do Acer Carecenter ... to make sure you get the right drivers. Although Windows 11 does seem to get all the drivers automatically. Also , look under OPTIONAL UPDATES in windows 10/11 , you might see Acer BIOS firmware, that you should get.

This PC has two HDMI inputs. I don't see room for any card slots. Is there no way to utilize a 3rd independent monitor with this system?

It has one low profile PCIe x16 slot. Make sure to get a GPU that does not need an additional power connector as there are none and no upgrade path for the PSU.

Check out this video for a list of video cards (ram, ssds, hdds, etc..) that will work with this desktop. The first comment gives a list of components if you don't want to watch the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-My1sRI4DDU

Instead of another graphics card Can I use a usb 3.0 to dual hdmi adapter to connect to one of the 3.2 type A adapter to get multiple monitor displays. I am trying to get 3 monitor setup with this PC.

It looks to be a non-standard size. https://community.acer.com/de/dis...nt_1108258

Has anyone bought this unit for use with PFSense? I have a known good DELL Intel x550-t2 NIC, that fails to POST with this computer. All I get is a continuous long beep. Computer works fine without the PCIe x550-T2 card installed. I'm worried that my either my PCIe slot is bad or the card is simply not compatible with this PC.
