not really on any count. has local dimming, qled etc that a "basic": panel would not. a basic panel is 250 nits and no wide color gamut etc in my book. Hisense also makes some great TV's at the high end.

there seems to be the usual controversy if the 75 inch model is va or ips, or maybe a lottery to get either. tentatively the rtings comments seemed to settle on va, but i'm a bit wary, since another review called out poor contrast (but then again their contrast numbers made no sense to me).

the tcl s546 is another contender in this range, down to 799 at amazon. they seem to hit similar brightness etc. the tcl seems more of a known measured quantity though at 75".

Edit: on the VA vs IPS front a Hisense rep on Best Buy website customer questions stated it's an IPS panel on the 75U6H. Altho i tend to take anything reps say with a grain of salt, since he gave presumably the worse answer it may be more believable ymmv. It's just that for whatever reason 75" models have tended to be IPS.

Is there any way to check/test if it's VA or IPS once you get the TV?

I'm waiting to see the pricing and reviews on the U7H. Any idea of when it'll show up?

If all 75" are one type panel for 2022 there may not be anything to compare against as there was with the 2021 U6G, but Post #27 in the attached U6G thread provides some helpful info...

In for one , thanks op.

I original placed an order for the 75u7g at $899 , looks like this is a better deal because $200 more to get 120hz and more dimming zone doesnt sound right to me , I don't use it to play game, only use it for streaming and movies.

By the way , walmart has it at the same price , however if you order online , it would charge you $50 ish freight shipping fee.

Where was 75U7G at 899?? Currently 1099 at Best Buy

Also an IPS panel fwiw

I'n not a tech expert so I do wonder if FALD local dimming would cancel out a lot of IPS lower contrast issues?

that's a useful post, thanks for sharing! I went ahead and bought one anyway - I think either will be a huge upgrade over my current TV, regardless, and I might be using the wide viewing angles of an IPS panel more than deep contrast in a dark setting.
