I'd disagree on numpad. Highly useful for literally any situation you need to input numbers (including making calls).

This laptop is amazing. Outrageously thin and light for how powerful it is.
Has an antiglare screen.

I run autohotkey scripts from half my keyboard. Having the numpad is great because it's technically different than the top row #s. If you use your laptop for productivity or anything that can be scripted, AHK can be invaluable, and better with a num pad.

Thinking of switching to Windows from Mac. How does this compare to the Acer Swift 3 and the Lenovo Slim 7i both also from Costco?

ARGH. So hard to pass up. I've been eyeing these LG grams for a month or so. Almost pulled the trigger on the 16", but saw the 17" would marked down, and here we are.

I bought a Lenovo LEGION Y520 @ Costco about 5 years ago ( wow time flies ) and it works for my needs. But, I don't expect it to last forever, and would prefer to get a new machine when/how I want, not because I have to...

How future proof is this LG build? The 16gb RAM is a step backwards... I put 32 in my legion. But the 5 generation newer i7 probably makes up for it plus some?

So the graphics card is not good at all? So any issue with connecting it to 2 or 3 external monitors to it? That depends on the graphics card right or not?

I've been eying this model, but worried about sup-par cooling with a single fan, but I'm no laptop expert. Any thoughts?
Most notebooks are limited by thermal throttling. This one tends to lose to XPS class notebooks but do well against most other non gaming notebooks. Battery life is great and it is easy to carry. SO if you are going to hammer the CPU to max all day this might not be the best choice.

Now if you want something light, great battery life, and handles typical daily tasks well... this is my first choice. Some will dislike the trackpad, but I find it usable and typically carry a mouse. IT can be problematic to some as it is not well located for typists. They switched to a anti-glare screen with this model.

Thanks for the input! I'll be doing remote work, typically 40 Chrome tabs, excel, Zoom, streaming videos, etc. Nothing heavy, so I think I'm in GREAT shape with this unit.

Now I just need to pair this with a travel monitor. Looking at the LG Gram View 16, but a matched 17 would be amazing...

Well said. I returned the 15' Gram due to trackpad and keyboard as I don't lug around additional keyboard and mouse and I just could not work on code / write. I switched to XPS 15 and feel so relieved in brain, but not in arms as XPS is heavier... Gram is teh King of Lightweight (if yo ucan live with mouse, keybaord offcenteredness from alpha keys)

I would strongly suggest you experience the keyboard and pay attention to how the trackpad is smack in the center of teh chasis.. with the num keys on right, it makes your right hand always tilted to left to type without smacking the trackpad. I loved how lightweight it was, but could not work...

Thanks, I should have mentioned I'll be using an alternate keyboard and mouse with the Gram up on a eye level laptop stand 95% of the time.

I've been on a desktop for so long, I think that's my best choice for a seamless transition.

It will work depending on how demanding the games are on CPU. It might end up CPU bound. It depends on the game how well it will perform. It tends to do well for its weight class, but some offer superior cooling.

IT basically will depend.
