I'd disagree on numpad. Highly useful for literally any situation you need to input numbers (including making calls).

This laptop is amazing. Outrageously thin and light for how powerful it is.
Has an antiglare screen.

I run autohotkey scripts from half my keyboard. Having the numpad is great because it's technically different than the top row #s. If you use your laptop for productivity or anything that can be scripted, AHK can be invaluable, and better with a num pad.

Just tested this at Costco today. About half my right palm rested on the trackpad. Man what were they thinking? Just terrible ergonomics! Mad
Yes, I wish I had tested... It annoyed me to no end and wasn't workable at all. Looks like they did no user study.. I am sure it worked OK with smaller sizes, but num pad on right throws ergonomics off completely

I've had this laptop for about a week and so far have no issue with trackpad. When typing my hands are elevated and when resting I guess I naturally roll my hands to the side such that only the outside of my wrist touches and it is to the right of the trackpad.

The number pad (and screen size and anti glare screen) are some of the key features I wanted. Happy so far.

Did you happen to notice if the 16" model has the same layout?

It is still in the center of the frame... Even for 17 inches

I just got it last night and though I love the weight, can't stress enough how great that is. But how is the battery life so far for people who own this ? I don't think I am getting more than 6 hours of battery life on the 17 inch version.

Does anyone know where it is made? Is it made in China?

I got a chance to check out the LG at Costco and it is ridiculously light, to the point it almost feels like a toy. That is nice but being heavier wouldn't bother me. I'm sure I could work with the trackpad placement on the LG, but I do find it a bit bothersome.

This looks like a good alternative at the same price, also from Costco:

ASUS 17.3" ROG Strix G17 Laptop - AMD Ryzen 9-5900HX - GeForce RTX 3050Ti - 1080p, Gray | Costco
https://www.costco.com/asus-17.3-...04980.html

I think I actually prefer it. The CPU seems comparable, significantly better GPU, double the storage, more ergonomic trackpad placement, slightly larger screen, and the lower res FHD display should still be great for the screen size (and maybe even a better fit in some cases). The reviews are great, too. Oddly it has no built-in webcam.

Asus is more than twice the weight of the Gram here..

Very different reasons and choices between the two. ASUS Seems gamer oriented with dedicated graphics and Gram is mobility light in weight.

Yes, for gamers that track pad will annoy them too.. 🙂🤘

+1. One buys the LG gram precisely because it's 17" 2560x1600 at just 3 lbs. For me, the LG gram is ideal if you need to do office type work while traveling (e.g. spreadsheets, etc). The LG likely has better battery life as well. Meanwhile, the Asus is a gaming laptop.

Mind, I wouldn't buy that Asus for gaming either. Most games are GPU limited so you're better off finding something with the RTX 3060 for the same price even if you have to go down a notch on the CPU.

I went to Costco with a friend to try this one out. Loved the keys, but I had the same problems with the location of the trackpad that others mentioned. My friend commented on my terrible typing posture with my palm resting on the computer and trackpad, so YMMV. It's probably a no go for me, but I was amazed that a screen this big and useful could be packaged so well. I had always considered 17" ultraportable to be an oxymoron. Nope.

I have selected the low fan setting from the LG tool it comes with so it does not really kick off the fan that much now.

So I am using a 2020 gram 16GB where 8GB is soldered to MB and the other I replaced with 32GB for about $100.00. It got 40GB of memory and I also upgrade NVMe memory to TLC 2GB. The system's running smooth and the only problem is it only got 8 vcores CPU. Need to add more cores. Does anybody know if I can do the same to this laptop, e.g. upgrade the memory and PCIe memory?

I mean just to buy the computer and upgrade the memory myself again.
