if you really want to get hardwater stains around the toilet , you really need to get a pumice stone bar and scrub elbow grease style. I've tried many cleaning products and they do ok, but to get real hard stains out, you need that pumice bar. Amazing stuff.

Pumice stones will permanently scratch and damage the surface of your toilet bowl. Once you use it, you can never stop. Cleaning products that contain Hcl will dissolve the hard water deposits. You just need to get as much of the water out as possible then let the cleaner sit for at least 20 minutes to dissolve the deposits. It may require a 2nd or possibly a 3rd application.

Costco sell a version of this Lysol with 12% Hcl as opposed to 9.5% in this deal. You can also use muriatic acid for pools. It's the same thing. You can also buy higher concentration HCL from Amazon, but be careful with those. I have been able to remove deposits from an old toilet (not mine) that was over 1/2" thick at the bottom.

Just don't use Hcl or muriatic acid based products on stainless steel or polished metal surfaces or it will eat away at the finish and stain it.
