There is an active recall on a few Dewalt Miter Saws that are very popular on Slick Deals. I am trying to post this on the consumer awareness thread so I hope this post goes through.

https://www.dewalt.com/miter-saw-recall

summary, "DEWALT Model DWS779, DWS780 and DHS790 Miter Saws

The plastic rear guard assembly can break/shatter when struck, exposing the saw blade and posing a laceration hazard.

The following miter saw models are affected:

DEWALT Model DWS779, DWS780 and DHS790 (designated DHS790AB or DHS790AT2 on the carton)"

Thanks for the heads up.

Reading the recall notice, it sounds like Dewalt had been aware of the issue for some time. They stopped producing defective saws in April. Kind of hypocritical that they say end users must stop using their saws immediately when they sat on this info for so long.

Hopefully the mods let this stay up. This defect is nasty business.

Might be worth adding in the title or description that all three models are 12" sliding dual bevel compound miter saws.

Not April, 4th week of the year, so end of January. Jerks

update: It says my repair kit is otw! thanks for the heads up.

Been almost 2 months now... I reached out to Dewalt about it when the "Stop Sale" first happened, and they basically said "Cool bro". Lol.

I asked about the recall and part on Jun 8th.

This is their response as of June 22nd..

- Thank you for contacting DEWALT®

Still we did not get any information regarding that tool and parts.

In case this email does not fully answer your question, or you would like to contact us for any reason, simply reply to this email.

Thank you, ______ -

Id like to get the part replaced though.

I only use the Dewalt 779 type 22 ( 😢 ) I have for cutting aluminum and sketchy stuff, and sold my older 580. Neither of the newer versions are as good as the older versions were. (The 779 and 780 constantly need recalibration now.) So when I got the Bosch, I knew I'd never go back to Dewalt as the Bosch just superior in every way.

I wish Dewalt didn't take a 💩 on their quality.. but I suppose it happens to all tool brands eventually.

Ughh... the "repair video" is horrible. Why do they use such junky video players. Just upload it to YouTube.

Also, it's not very detailed, and needed a few zoomed shots. If it's not uploaded on YT by the time i get the part (which looks beefy, and a bit generic), I'll make one that doesn't show you what to do from a camera setup that's 3 klicks away 😂 🤣 😆

This is so funny because my second cut on my 779 broke the piece I think they are talking about. Tried to track the part down and was never 100% sure. And it worked without it for several projects.

but in my area you are gonna be without your tool for months or maybe a year
