Oh here's another one. They've been doing this multiple line item thing for like more than 10 years now. The staff at Home Depot, one of the biggest retailers in the country, are not idiots. If they wanted to stop this, they could do it at any time.

If you go to Kohl's and you spend enough to get Kohl's cash coupons and then you buy something with those coupons if you later return something you earned Kohl's cash with they invalidate the coupons that you spent later and only give you as a refund that corresponds to if you have never gotten the coupons. Do you really think Home Depot (a retailer with literally 10 times the revenue of Kohl's) can't figure that out?
