You're trying to jerry-rig a combination deal for multiple pieces, so that you get rid of the undesirable parts to maintain that discount on a per-item basis.
If you go to Kohl's and you spend enough to get Kohl's cash coupons and then you buy something with those coupons if you later return something you earned Kohl's cash with they invalidate the coupons that you spent later and only give you as a refund that corresponds to if you have never gotten the coupons. Do you really think Home Depot (a retailer with literally 10 times the revenue of Kohl's) can't figure that out?
You are walking into a store and returning an item no different than any other return.
