There are many that question the ethics of the 'hack', personally I believe if HD didn't want it to happen, they would simply make these deals bundle only and not pro-rate the items. It's at your own risk though, there are several reports of people having their HD accounts suspended/cancelled for doing it. I've done it with several items with no issue, but I'm also careful not to abuse it.

Don't see why not, but if they are tracking it, my guess is they are probably also monitoring by credit cards/billing addresses. Don't know for sure, just my $0.02. Again, I've had no issues for the half a dozen or so I've done over the last year or so, but YMMV.
