Are you speaking about reasoning for spending more to get a better set than the Hisense U8G

Or are you speaking about the Best Buy extended warranty?

If so..personally ...it paid me 100% back on a 3 year old 65" LG E7 OLED
Due to prices falling over time I was actually ahead of the game and the refund bought me a new TV with funds left over

In fact..it was even better than that
They never picked up the LG E7 and I sold it to a guy, as is, for $450

Definitely the worry, no debate which has the better PQ.
I'll take you word on BB's warranty, hope it works out the same with the G1 for you.

For me I'll take the better PQ, the whole reason I bought OLED.
For me not worth the hassle to price watch, sell the display to fund another display then having to change it out and calibrate it again for an incremental upgrade, no thanks.

Not surprising for me though I had my Kuro for about 10 years.
Nothing came close until OLED even then in a light controlled room, it would hold its own IMO.

Kuro + Oppo 203/205 that was the sh*t!

For me it was not a choice
The display failed after 3 years
The Best Buy warranty paid me for my original full purchase price and didnt even take the TV

Rather than throw it in the garbage I took $450 for it and didnt even have to move it as the guy came and picked it up
So I was WAY ahead financially. The G1 was actually cheaper than the E7 was due to prices dropping

As far as the Hisense U8G..pass for me...when you can get the QN90a, a better TV in every way, for 20% more

If you need a budget Tv there is the Insignia 65" TV here that is $350 and watchable

As for the Kuro , I had a chance to buy one on close out years ago...and ditto with the Sharp Elite LCD when it was being closed out
They were both great deals at the time and I was considering but I passed on both

I am a person that likes LCDs and OLED equally for different purposes
I love watching my Sony Z9D for some applications and I really like the G1 for others

However, I am very impressed with QD-OLED and there is really no question what I would replace the G1 with

Damn man I just bought the LG GX a couple month ago and now I just put on a order for this TV my girl gonna be pissed off lol smh but a oled tv at this price is too hella of a good deal to let it pass me damn you slick deals you got me again lol 😂 I might cancel this G1 oled has almost the same spec as my GX idk 🤷 ♂️ though is there even a difference?? The LG G1 OLED is an amazing overall TV. It delivers stunning picture quality for dark room viewing because of its near-infinite contrast ratio and perfect black uniformity. It's also good to use in well-lit rooms for watching sports or TV shows as it has fantastic reflection handling, and the wide viewing angles make it suitable for wide seating areas. HDR content looks amazing as it displays a wide color gamut and has decent HDR peak brightness, enough to make highlights stand out. Gamers should appreciate the variable refresh rate (VRR) support and HDMI 2.1 inputs. Unfortunately, it has the risk of permanent burn-in, so it may not be the best choice to use solely as a PC monitor.

PROS

• FreeSync, G-SYNC, and HDMI Forum VRR support.
• 120Hz panel with four HDMI 2.1 inputs.

I've had the same personal experience with the samsung and I would agree with that comparison especially for "20%" less.

What was your personal experience with the U8G and QN90a?

Without actually pulling the receipt out..I think I paid $389 for the 5 year warranty on the G1
Two relevant facts here
1. Profit from the last set paid for the extended warranty
2. I change panels often, as you can obviously tell, and the transferable warranty has been a value when I sell the Tv to the next owner

If I am lucky the same scenario will happen again and a new QD-OLED will be a no charge with a 5 year warranty...

In fact it makes sense to look at several different review sites versus one

We have compared the Samsung QN90 to the Hisense U8G to the TCL R646 all playing the same material from the same player
A few things cant be captured numerically
1. The Samsung's picture processing ( including HDR performance) is just flat out better than the other two
2. The Samsung has better local dimming performance than the other two

Honestly, the Hisense and TCL R646 are peas in a pod trading better attributes here and there with each other, to my eyes

Personally, I would pay the extra 20% for the Samsung

Dolby Vision capability does not help a lesser Tv look better..it can help with upscaling, color or local dimming performance( including blooming)

My suggestion would be to look at the Sony X95 if you like the Samsung QN90a but DV is must have a feature. In some ways it even better than the Samsung QN90a

But again, if money is just flat out an issue, then there are $350 65" 4K TV's on slick deals that are watchable almost every week

I checked Consumer Reports and they rated HDR performance very good for the GX and excellent for the G1. But sound quality excellent for the GX and very good for the G1. Other than that everything else was the same. So unless you just want a brand new tv.......

Currently mounting it in the bedroom now, also picked up a Sonos Beam 2 for it.

Lol yea this is getting tempting. But my 2016 Lg E6 is still going strong. Would be happy if it just died so I'd have the excuse to upgrade😂
