Definitely not originally $700. Over inflated just like Harmon Kardon. It's a good speaker for the price but you're not getting a steal. I used to work for Best Buy for several years and this brand is usually heavily discounted

I got 4 of these last time to put 2 in the wall and 2 in the cieling, but they were too thick for the walls.

I would say the reviews are great with 4.8 stars based on 806 reviews in Bestbuy and 4.8 based on 9 reviews in Amazon. Also considering those reviewers might have bought it at a higher price, this seems to be a great deal.
