US Bank refused to pay my bonus, even after I showed them screenshots I had saved. Never again.
FYI, they will try to screw you out of your promo bonus, by claiming the account was not opened with promo code included.

since usually any promo will require you to wait from 90 days all the way to 6 months (perhaps more), they can easily get away with it.

not even showing the evidence will help.

just beware
Since there is a monthly fee on promo all offered checking account, how soon can you close the account after getting deposit?

Is there not any way to have it waived like minimum balance or direct deposit? I got a Wells deal a while back and am still maintaining an account just because there's no fee from the direct deposits, but I may close that if I can make $400...

Edit: I think their terms was only $250 per paycheck or maybe $500 per month, I just know I'm on two $250 for that account and it's enough to have the fee waived. Of course that's much lower than the amount US Bank is asking.

There is a way to waive of the $7 (minimum fee) on Easy account if you maintain $1500 balance or a DD of 1000 (i think; not sure on this number).

I too have a Wells account to manage so don't want to juggle too much.
Get the bonus and close!

If I'm not working, what exactly could qualify for a direct deposit? I mean, could my husband just transfer money from his Bank of America account onto my US bank one?

"You must also complete two or more direct deposits within 60 days of opening your account totaling $4,000 or more. A direct deposit is an electronic deposit of your paycheck or government benefits, such as Social Security, from your employer or the government. Other electronic deposits or person-to-person payments are not considered a direct deposit."

Annoying if it's the only way.

So, since there is nothing listed in Terms & conditions (have read thorough though), i am assuming this can be closed once you get the bonus 🤔

They waive it if you have a credit card with them, and US Bank does have some nice cards for cash back
