I am new to intel. Can someone tell me if this is a good price and what is the cheapest motherboard combo?

I am currently looking at 11th gen intel to see if there are any good deals.

12th gen has improved greatly over 11th gen. Support for ddr-5, PCIe gen 4/5 and better overall performance. There was no 11th gen i3, but this is a huge jump over 10th gen i3 which was already a great budget CPU.

It's a good price, you're going to pay at least $60 more for the i5-12400.

If you need the cheapest motherboard, you want an H610 chipset but it does come at the sacrifice of some features. I personally like the MSI h610-pro motherboards but the gigabyte ds3h h610m has good features as well.

Surprised we haven't seen more i3 deals with 12-Gen stuff. Has everything really gravitated to i5 and i7 line now for Intel? Seems like i5 is quickly becoming the default floor for building system, with i7 and i9 coming for those that really need the extra horsepower.

This thing destroys my i5-6th gen across the board, lol…and you can buy this new guy 1/2 the price I paid for that i5 in 2015.

Beware of the bracket bending issue present in 12th gen. https://www.tomshardware.com/news...d-warranty

Third party brackets/mods will void your warranty.

I think they are going to be required to use for this Intel gen and next since they improve temperatures. https://www.amazon.com/Thermalrig...0B5Q5ZWNQ/

AMD has nothing in this price range though many unknowns how long Intel will support LGA1700. Will current motherboards support power requirements in future CPUs? Some Intel mobos can't use CPUs over 65 Watts.
