It's a sticky tape and I had to remove it for my windshield replacement. I recommend heating it up and use the string provided to remove it. Otherwise, it's hell of a job.

How does it hold in very hot climates like Arizona?
You should be pretty good, the viofo a119 has a capacitor not a typical battery. You want a capacitor in your dashcam for hot climate regions. Batteries do not last very long in hot climates.
Make sure you get an endurance rated sd card since the dashcam does so much recording

Any dash cam that has a supercapacitor should work fine in Arizona.
I don't have this exact camera but I have another brand with a super capacitor.
It works fine but the wifi sometime doesn't like to work when its 115 (I also live in AZ).
They typically throw in a few tape replacements, if you have multiple cars you can pick up multiple bases that stick to the window. The camera can be detached from the base to be moved to a different car.
it uses 3m adhesive on the base to stick to the windshield.
The base has the GPS module. It does come with an empty base so you could mount it on a different vehicle, but lose GPS data.
This comes with a static film. so you stick the camera to the film and the film to the cleaned glass. This way you can take it off with ease. However, I haven't tried the film method myself, so I don't know how well it can hold the camera say, on a hot day or on a bumpy road.
I have the static film install and it has survived colorado winters and summers no issue. Never had to reposition or reinstall.

+1 for this, don't have same exact model but same company and attaching material. I was even able to do one of those Velcro command strips to stick it in case it needed to be pulled off or repositioned and haven't had any problems with the static film.

it holds up fine, and we have 100+ degree weathers here.
the static film approach is brilliant.

I was in a car accident last week and I wish I had a dash camera and back camera recording the accident. Does anyone recommend a good quality brand in a $250 or less range. Thanks in advance

...mini-USB?
Not micro-USB, which has been around nearly forever. Not USB-C that's ubiquitous, from cellphones to chargers to laptops.
No, we're taking a walk back in time here to a historic time when mini-USB ruled the Earth! In all seriousness, you've got to be kidding me. Devices made today should be USB-C, period.
But using a standard that's 2 generations older than current? That's a joke which isn't even funny.

Wow, this is a deal breaker for me. I got rid of all those mini-USB with my MP3 player about a DECADE AGO!! WTF would the manufacturer do that???!!

Also following this question - if you have a front and back option for under 150 that would be great - thank you
