Doesn't make sense. If firman says it not 25%, then how did people get 25%?
Either firman changed the specs or independent testing showed a higher THD because if you look at this same generator from last October (went front page) it's one of the sticky comments.

The best I could figure out is that there was another model that had a 25% THD. Then on Costco's website, a review stated that this model had a THD of 25%. That review was pinned on top for being helpful, and from there the claim the generator had a 25% THD was proliferated here on Slickdeals and other places. I'm not 100% sure that's how it happened, but I was curious as well on how something so bizarre was widely proliferated.

Many UPS backups also will refuse "dirty" power. All depends on ones use case of course but ive got a house full of UPS devices and a furnace that wont play well with dirty power so bought an inverter style generator.

I bought this same exact model via Costco in store for $699, sale. The new version (gray) is at costco now, and it recently was on sale for $699 as well. So my guess is this goes on sale 2-3 times a year at costco. It comes with a cover and some peripherals at costco.

First two didn't power central heat/air.
The first start was tough. Had to call Firman for tech support. They were great, small truck with the choke for the first start. No issues since.
$699 was great price, no brained at $550 with 2 yr warranty.
I did exactly that with this generator. Yes. It's worth it. If you need to run your generator for 48 hours, you will appreciate it. Fuel goes bad and will gunk up the generator so no. LP while a great option, will get only 5-6 hours a 20 gal tank. You do loose quite a bit of power on NG so take this into account. I did measure the wattage output and it is to spec.
I made the connection myself. Use black iron pipe and fittings (Not galvanized) if you can. There is special Teflon tape for gas as well. I split the input to my water heater. I ordered a quick connect hose from Amazon as HD didn't have a decent length.
Optimally, make this connection with a tap, and outside the house if you can. But again, this is for emergency use.
Consider this as an emergency power backup generator. The TDH, as others have mentioned, is pretty bad. All my lights flicker, microwave sounds terrible. I didn't dare turn on the TV. But anything with a power brick seemed to work fine like the fiber internet and laptops. Kept the fridge running. Managed to run an AC unit as well.

Someone else mentions they think it was to turn off the choke immediately after startup. Anyone else chime in to confirm what this "trick" is?
