Seems like good processor even if the screen is only 250nits / NTSC 45%. And for someone who needs/wants a 17 inch screen.
Even tho the online description lists i5-12500H processor, tag on the display counter said I5-1235U. They didn't have a display model, just a placeholder. Staples inventory tag on the box also listed I5-1235U. So I asked the salesclerk to take a look at the box. Reluctantly he went back to the holding cell. Didn't bring out the box, but he snapped a photo of the Asus label on the box . Read i5-12500H

I hope it becomes available at my store for the in store price, been looking for a 17 inch laptop with lighted keyboard where the keys are not silver, and I am using an Asus 15.6 inch I bought in 2012, time for an update, this one is getting slow
I am just a causal user so with respect to my needs, it looks impressive (17 inch screen). The case I would say is equal to the Thinkpad, but does not have the Trackpoint, and separate Trackpad buttons. Thinkpad top shows fingerprints and seems to have more flex on either side of the trackpad than the Vivobook. Both are 250 nits screens. The Vivo white screens are so much better than the Thinkpad which looks on the greyish side. The Vivo Window splash screen opens up instantly from sleep. The Thinkpad take as much as 4 or 5 secs to get to it. Obviously, there is no beating Thinkpad keyboard but I can't get used to the switching in the palacement of the Fn and CTRL keys on the Thinkpad.
8 GB is serving my needs, but ability to add some extra RAM is a good thing.
I ran the Passmark app on both machines.

Ran both on electric this morning, and the Thinkpad surely does beat out the Vivobook.
I got the F1502ZA (15" with an i5-1240P) and did not like it did not support any Alt feature or PD.
If using a docking station is not important to you, then this computer can end up being a good alternative.
