I have a ROG Flow, and very briefly considered buying the XG Mobile back when graphics card prices were insane, but got some sense and now with prices becoming sane again as well, I cannot recommend this. For half this price it'd be worth that value. So wait for clearance pricing or til they release a new one, or probably the best option, wait for TB4 laptops to become common.

You'll find that sometimes in 1080p resolution, this mobile RTX 3080 actually beats a full desktop RTX 3080 connected via TB3 based eGPU enclosure. Being external actually helps because now it is not restricted by the thermal and power constrains of the laptop chassis and that also helps the laptop to push more power to the cpu as the internal GPU not being used and the internal cooling solution only being used to cool the CPU.

and You did not get the concept of this dock in the 1st place. if you are okay with a full fledged heavy gaming Laptop which you want to carry everywhere, there is no need for this product. This Product is for their ROG Flow products where you can have a less that 3 lbs 2-in-1 (Rog Flox X13) or a Tablet (Z13) which you can use and carry as a Ultraportable device and that can be converted into a gaming machine using this.
To give you a weight comparison, the combined weight of this Dock and the Rog Flow X13 is still lighter than most full sized gaming laptops. And the thing is, there is no other product in the market which can do that. Asus could actually have charged it way higher than that since they're the only company doing that.
I see this might be better than buying a Thunderbolt 4 docking station.

Unfortunately it isn't apples ot apples as he uses an intel based laptop vs the flow x13. Still a good upgrade for anyone that wants a laptop to take around and then "dock" it home for some nice gaming albeit on a 1080p screen as 1440p and ultrawides would probably make it not so great. I personally liked this setup and do have the XG mobile with a 3080 and at the time it was 1499 from ASUS due to the shortage and such but it's worth it if it was suited for your use like my case. Everyone will have different opinions on this but really comes down to if it works for your setup.
