all the beginner chef knives were gone yesterday (Premier Chef Knife). Everything left Fuji, Hiro, Kaji is SG2 which is supposed to be the best of the best. Hikari is overpriced.

I purchased this one for the purpose of using as a boning knife, will this knife not be efficient? It's listed as a boning knife in their filter.

4.5" is too short for deboning purposes. You also need a curvy blade for better performance.

Same type knife at Aldi is $14.99. This is bullshit ripoff
Moronic comment of the day award winner.

Shun knives are top tier and something you'll never find in Aldi, etc.

Dumb question but how do poor people cut things? I need to know bc these are expensive. Are they like handbags where they just carry things but I look fancy carrying things?
the same way except by exerting more strength, brute force and grunting.
Pretty much what you get with these knives is a longer lasting sharpness in a thin profile to allow it to be more precise. So in some cases like say cutting sashimi you want a smooth clean cut, not a rough grain so you need a sharp/precise knife to do that.
You can still do the same job with your aldi knife but if you served rough grained cut or squished sashimi to your guests they would not be too excited about eating it

The rest of it is marketing, status symbol and the illusion of feeling that you are a semi-professional chef

If you need a knife to break down chicken, the Shun blue honesuki is a pretty good deal.

Had to return one once for a broken tip and warranty completely covered it. I absolutely love Shun but no warranty makes it a no deal.
Just the tip?

The only way to prove your comment is if you knife fought someone with your aforementioned $14.99 knife. If you can win in a head-to-head knife fight to the death we will acknowledge your aldi knife
