When the preorders first opened up, trade in-value for the s20 FE for me was like $700. Total price for the flip was like $284. Went to purchase. Then total price went up in my cart to $600. I went back and tried to order again and trade-in went down to $450. Yesterday I checked and it was down to $400. Does it vary based on timing? I signed up for the pre-order before the phone was announced.

How'd you do it my friend? I went into a best buy and they thought I was freaking nuts and then no one knew how to actually process this promotion.
I experienced the same problem at best buy store near me but I tried at a different store. Mobile sales consultant was able to understand how to process this promo immediately when I showed him best buy webpage.

really? I went to their mobile area and everyone was just totally clueless. I'll probably have to go to a different store.

Yep. It seems to be a new type of promotion at best buy so not everyone is aware of the process to redeem it.

Sorry for the long story, but here it goes. I contacted Samsung customer support countless times; every time you contact them it's someone different, and the names they use during chat makes it very difficult to keep track of who's helping you since they're not real, just usernames. So there's a lot of emails like: "hey this is Jon, we spoke yesterday about " but his name was Amad on the chat Lol. Sometimes you have to save, copy, and paste your chats, given you will have to repeat the same 10 paragraphs you just typed with the previous representative to the next person.

Samsung got some manager that specialized in these kind of issues. Initially, according to this manager, Samsung did receive the phone. A few days later, he changed his statement to the reason I was being charged was because the phone was never received (remember, I have an email from Samsung themselves stating that they received traded-in device order# XXXXXXX) and they're evaluating it. To answer your question... after my bank got involved and I sent them the evidence (when I received the collection letter), Samsung changed the trade-in value status at the Samsung Invoice Page order from "Pending" to "Manually Completed". I'm sure that proves they did lose or stole my phone, since that doesn't seem like a normal procedure.

Other Samsung trade-ins I have done in the past showed "Completed" followed by "Successfully Traded In" as well as a checkmark inside a circle to the right as the status in my Samsung Invoice Page. My bank told me to save all this evidence for a few years; including their apology that they sent the wrong name to collection (sure).
It's good that they ended up marking the trade-in as complete. Manually completed = complete.
Sorry for all your troubles.

Anyone know if you need to unlock your device to do a Bestbuy trade-in? I'm guessing not but wasn't sure if I should be going out of my way to unlock my S20FE.

Be wary of the folding phones from Samsung. Can't speak for Motorola's, but the screen peeling issue is still there. Mine Z Flip 3 is already cracking and peeling after around 9 months of use. I'm not a heavy phone user either. I don't play games, I don't watch much on it. I text my wife and use it for work two-factor.

Samsung voided my warranty over a tiny dent on the back.. Lots of stories of people online having similar issues.

That said.
I loved the Flip more than any other phone I've ever had. It will be missed, but I can't trade in a phone and spend another 3-400 bucks every 9 months on a replacement. Hello Pixel 6a.

I am EIP/installment with Tmobile. Do I have to pay it off before trading in? In the past, with Tmobile deals, it is not required.

Take it FWIW, I didn't really pursue to ask what would happen if i wanted to return the S21FE.....The best buy associate that was helping me with the purchase (said she had 2+ years selling phones at BB) actually mentioned specifically that BB has come up with the coupon+GC trade policy to prevent folks from getting the full $800 GC back as a return (also, they have a restocking fee of $45 for a phone return)

for me, the more moving parts, the more wear and tear and the more chances it's gonna break. and these are a thousand $$$ items, so staying away from this flips or folds.

Anyone in California do this deal? Are you paying tax on full price of phone or on price after trade in discount? Thanks.
