I tried the same store with the phone box already opened for my Mom's use and they denied me in any excuse possible.
For example, if I were to buy a flip 3 on sale using my Verizon account, do I need to open the box and activate it before trading it in, or can I just hand them the brand new box unopened as a trade-in?
They didn't ask for the original box, not the paid off or not, not carrier affiliated and not purchase price, etc.. To be honest, the most involved part during each trade-in was going through the prompts/policies that I needed to sign.
As long as the IMEI is clean and physical phone condition is bare minimum, you should be okay to go through the deal, given that you have a competent BB Rep who knows how to pull this deal in the system. I've never traded in any phone with cracked screen, cracked corners, blemished screen or any flaws to provide additional info. All my phones traded in were in pristine condition though. So it could be smoother for my personal experiences with them.
By the way, at least in comparison with T-Mobile trade-in deals lately, BestBuy-Samsung collaborated promotions have been awesome and hard to resist. I see nothing better through T-Mobile bc of low trade-in values and stuck installment credits reflected for 24- or 36-month periods. BestBuy-Samsung deals have been much cleaner and straightforward. Hope they keep collaborating for their phones, so that they would keep me using Samsung. Otherwise, I might consider trying Apple iDiots/iPhones...
Just go to any Best Buy store and ask for this trade-in promote. You can select the option to activate later (same price) so that you won't be attached to any carrier or plan.
