I tried the same store with the phone box already opened for my Mom's use and they denied me in any excuse possible.
If you're trading for the 21fe, I recommend you trade your phone in now and hold the coupon/GC until 21fe unlocked drops back down to $500 (which was the case last week).

Source: learned it the hard way, my local store reps didn't know what they were doing and spent more than half hour arguing with me instead of trying it in their system or even simply ask their coworkers/manager how to get it done. The excuses they gave are all BS: the promo on their website doesn't exist/it only works on carrier models/promo only works on certain models(tried to say my flip 3 doesn't qualify)
Big F you for all best buy mobile reps who are unwilling to help a paying customer with a simple task and tried so many BS to justify their incompetence and ignorance
