I was lucky enough to have ATT waive all 3 of my activation fees… politeness is the key 🤣🙂

Did my second trade in today, Iphone 12 Pro Max for S22 Ultra, active now (new line)

Total: +500 gift card - 800 (Tmobile new line price) +400 coupon - taxes = 61.01 left on gift card.

Sweet deal, thanks again OP.
Can you check if you can cancel the line? Even if you don't want to, maybe check with tech support to confirm. It will be super helpful for many of us here. Thanks in advance.

tmobile said no activation fee for me. I don't see any account activity on my tmobile account. I called them to confirm there will not be any additional activation or any other charge.

It is interesting my receipt doesn't show full price. At one point I thought return for $900 back and repeat the effort. Looks like it is $500 they are going to give back, I am not going to take risk for $100+

Guys thanks for all the help here. Just traded the iPhone12 Pro which I bought it for $350 and got my S22 ultra. All I paid was $35, I have no idea. I thought I would pay taxes on $899 which is $72+.
I activated phone via T-Mobile. I am not even primary account holder. If you need my story I will write it once I go home
Really nice! Where did you get an iPhone 12 Pro for $350??

Maybe because this is an upgrade? Can anyone done upgrades confirm that there is no activation fee? I think activation fee applies to new lines(though their web site doesn't show it for AT&T).

No activation fee for my T-Mobile device upgrade. And I don't see anything change on my T-Mobile account after the 2 trade-in. And the line that I have used for the 2 trade-in still shows eligibility for device upgrade. So I don't know how many times we can do trade in using T-Mobile device upgrade on the same line.

How far away is the next one!?

* Call corporate while in the store. I had a manager trying to tell me a 10% off mover's coupon didn't apply to Apple merchandise when it clearly stated in the terms it did. They just make things up, they don't really know what's going on half of the time. I had a corporate supervisor set them straight on speaker. It was extremely satisfying.
Nice. Should have recorded it.

I'm not sure why some of these best buy people are like this? Are they losing anything by helping you? Are they just lazy?

How does it work if you do a new activation? Can you cancel within the first month and so you only pay one month service? Is the phone network locked to that carrier?

Traded in the wife's s21+ for a Flip 4, was going to get a S22+ but we decided let's give the Flip a try. No issues at all doing the deal. He almost sold me a Tmobile varient for another $50 off but his coworker corrected him... He did mention T-Mobile may charge an activation fee in 1 to 2 billing cycles so I'll have to be on the lookout to try and get that waived if it does pop up.

I tried to trade my Z Flip3 5g for a Z Fold4 today at my local Best Buy. Was looking to get the Unlocked version for $1399 with activation today on T-mobile. Wanted the $800 credit as stated in the promo to have a walk out price of $599. The mobile department manager told me that wasn't how it worked and that I could only have the $800 credit off the full $1799 purchase price. I knew he was wrong but couldn't get anywhere when trying to explain it to him and he didn't know how to process that promotion. He kept trying to sell me on the T-Mobile variant with bill credits for 36 months. I don't do credit on consumer devices as cash is king. Any tips on what to say or how to get him tto understand how to honor the $800 promo credit with the t-mobile activate today price of $1399. I don't really want to call corporate while standing there with him on the phone but I guess I will if I have to.

You are in the right. The Manager is shady for trying to sell the T-mobile version with bill credits... You can point at the trade-in promotion page which clearly requires you to purchase the unlock version. Or you can try another store. Good luck!

I have the same question. Have people had success trading in phones that are locked with say AT&T or TMobile?
Locked or unlocked, it doesn't matter, as long as the phone is not blacklisted.

Quote from TopGun2000 :
Does the trade-in phone have to be paid off? Can I trade in an S21U still financed by Tmo? Of course, I will continue to pay the monthly DPP.
You can trade the phone in and continue to make the payment. It doesn't have to be paid off.

Can anyone please answer this,

I have fully paid iPhone 12 pro on T-mobile plan. Can i get S22 Ultra for free by giving my iPhone 12 Pro?

Also do i have to add new line or i can upgrade my current line?
Upgrade the current phone to get the activation now price.

Thanks Yugioh2. I figured I was in the right. I did show him that page multiple times and he insisted it would only be good for an activate later purchase and not a reduced activate today purchase.

Are there any Best Buy employees out there that may have some advice? Is there a special way he has to process it on his end?
