The clip on design makes it so the tuner only hears the guitar itself (through the vibrations in the headstock) rather than any outside noise. Really handy if you're in a noisy environment such as band practice

Maybe a dumb question but would this work on a viola? My son is starting Orchestra next week and will need a tuner.
edit: nvm i see the description says it works with a violin so I'm going to assume yes.

I have like 3-4 generic ones that always seem to be included for free when you buy an instrument. Would be nice to have a non-generic / branded version but the free ones I've received seem to work fine. Will pass for now but $7 seems like a steal.
