I was in search of a #1 ECX Screwdriver and came across this combo set at HD. Maybe not a smoking deal, but the free shipping sealed it for me, usually a $45 minimum for free shipping at HD. The ECX driver is designed to conform to the "combo" Phillips/Flat/Robertson screws found on most electrical devices (switches and outlets), which supposedly offers more torque when tightening down screws. I didn't need the insulated feature per se, but doesn't hurt on a screwdriver I will use exclusively for electrical work.

I have this set, purchased in store for this price or less, so this is the every day price and not a deal. Ecx is special as it is what is on outlets when wiring it. It is better than #2 Phillips as it is a combination of standard, square and #2 Phillips all in one and prevents cam out (stripping of the screw head).

Worth the purchase, but definitely not a deal.

Thanks for the input - I suspected I'd get clobbered on TDs, TBH I'm looking for feedback sometimes when I post deals. I have the Klein Tools "combo" screwdriver that has the square (Robertson) drives, and while it works better than a Phillips, I'm hoping for a little more positive engagement from the ECX. I'm getting to the point with electrical work where I prefer the "right" tool over the all-in-one "combo" tools - understood this is every day price, but I think a good purchase as you point out. FS clinched it for me.

No worries! I think it is cool too, I saw it in a YouTube video talking about common mistakes DIY folks do while wiring outlets. I'm not an electrician, but this is my go to set now for the screws on outlets or switches, however any electricians I have hired go for the slotted (standard) screwdriver or have a combo Klein that can also drive nuts as well.

Anyway, yeah, slickdeals isn't really the place to post "check out this cool tool" but there are groups on Facebook for that. FS isn't a big deal to me when I can walk in or order curbside same day at my local HD.

I've gotten increasingly frustrated with our local HD - items shown as "in stock" are not. Often the items are in stock, but they have no staff to get them down from the upper "warehouse" shelves. Their electrical aisles look like a bomb went off. I've taken to ordering online when it's not something I need immediately.

I recently bought this set to short out capacitor on my AC motor for replacement. I bought a set with their wire stripper for $29. I also have the Klein's but swapping bits on Klein's from Philips to square to slotted while holding the outlet is not convenient. Having separate screwdriver helps. I'm not an electrician.
