I am wondering with the size of pro will I be able to put it at the back of TV since its mounted nad have it place on the mount and hope it works well. I don't do any gaming just for streaming various apps like Netflix, Prime, espn, etc + kodi.

I've noticed some lagging and stuttering when watching Hulu and sometimes YouTube on my Shield Tube. The tube is connected via Ethernet. I disconnected it and tried Wifi and had the same issues. Thinking of replacing it with this model. Anyone else had similar issues?
I have no problems with YouTube on my Pro model.

If you experience any problems with a Shield, a factory reset and set up from scratch usually fixes it.

I have the original 2015 OG. Still works like a champ. Not laggy at all. With an SD card set as internal memory. I can download apps and content and not worry about low storage. I have it hooked up with ethernet. I get 800 mbps download. Still gets all the updates. I just had to replace the original remote with the updated remote. I have roku, firestick 4k max, onn Google tv, Google Chromecast with GTV. Hands down the nvidia shield is the Bentley of all streaming devices.

They added ads to your homescreen a couple updates ago. I wouldn't have bought it if I knew they were going to pull that crap.

How good would this be at streaming games from my PC? Would it be a better value than buying an Xbox Series S for the living room to play game pass on?

You must be joking. The Nvidia Shield runs rings around the crappy Roku. And Roku is about to lose a lot of apps because of their greedy "all money must go through us policy"

Firesticks and Rokus are garbage, and even the Fire Cube (yes, I have them all) can't compare to the shield. I even hacked mine so that I can press the nextflix button a short press and open plex. Long press, open netflix and double click it, and it opens hulu.
"Hacked" You mean you installed the button remapper app? Lol

Will the Shield run as a server allow me to set recordings of live tv through Plex using my HDHomerun networked tuners? I run a PC 24/7 as my Plex server now and am considering moving the duty to the Shield..
The Shield works as a Plex server for some people, but from what I've seen most people seem to regret using it as their server. It makes a much better client device.

I'm talking about the tube version, not this model.

There is gonna be a new model this year for sure. It's been 3 years and we are now starting to see discounts. I bet a new one is announced by November.
New ones have generally been announced at CES in late Dec/early January. Just going by history but the world has changed quite a bit since 2019 and Nvidia and the chip shortage was pressured into fulfilling their NINTENDO Switch orders.

Yep, but this thing is outdated. They need to add a newer processor and internal memory.
outdated compared to what ?? it's by far faster and more capable than any of its peers

Tbh, diehards such as myself who know better have come to realize that the Shield, as incredible of media setup box it might be, carries outdated specs that are underwhelming and leave a lot to be desired especially when there are other chipsets/SoC which aren't Google certified that blow the Shield out of the water... Just Google "R58X" or "Rockchip RK3588S" or "Rockchip R3566 SBC" to see what I'm talking a/b.

This was nice 4-5 years ago, but competitors have caught up and provided cheaper alternatives. Onn box, fire stick max etc.

You don't need this unless you like playing games with your remote control
It's a 3 year old device, so it's impossible for you to have had this model 4-5 years ago
