I opened Sofi checking on Jul 26 and completed the $5,000 direct deposit. Got email 4 days ago saying "Nice work! Your first direct deposit just hit your account. We'll calculate your total direct deposit amount over the next 30 days and credit the bonus accordingly. You'll qualify for your bonus 30 days after you set up direct deposit with your employer, and it can take up to 2 weeks for it to post to your account after that"....so I should be getting the $300 within next 30 days.

-Mar, opened/completed Wells Fargo and received in 3 mts (June) the $325 Bonus.
-Apr, opened/completed Chase and received the $225 bonus immediately (same month) after direct deposit was made.
-Today, opened US Bank and setup direct deposit to receive the $400 bonus after 2 or more deposits totaling $4,000 or more.

I am now researching BMO Harris and their $500 cash bonus when you have a total of at least $7,500 in qualifying direct deposits within the first 90 days.

can we do a bank transfer to satisfy the direct deposit?
I just did this earlier today. I've had capital One 360 savings since it was ING Orange Savings and until recently I didn't notice they weren't paying me the interest rate posted on their homepage because they started the "performance" 360 savings account which gets a higher rate. Why didn't they just convert 360 savings to the new "performance" product? Probably so people like me wouldn't realize right away we weren't getting paid the best rate. They said I'd have have a new performance account to get the better rate so since I was a little miffed, I'd have to open a new account anyway, and SoFi is paying better I just moved it all over to SoFi...

"my friend" has his own business account and he pays $25/mo to be able to ACH and it works fine with all banks...... but that $25/month "he" says is painful just to keep the 2% APY.

Anyone know of a better way to get that DD to them where it counts?

- asking for my friend...

P.S. added attachment for those that are interested of chat with support

I like having the high 2% interest in checking. This will make sofi my primary checking account since I do like depositing and withdrawal money on the same account while earning the interest. Having a savings account requires more maintenance since it is limited to 6 withdrawals a month. I guess all banks have its pros and cons. My 2nd choice is capital one 360. It is a local bank here and it has a savings account at 1.7% interest right now.

Ugh....the web based bill pay on SoFi sucks! I asked about all the missing features and their only reply is to try the app. Um no, I use bill pay on my desktop! This will make it hard to switch from my far superior web based bill pay bank (Capital One 360 checking)

Dont worry. You can still get $25 for opening an account with referral and get paid 2% APY or your checking account. No fee and you can take $25 and close your account too

the 30 days doesnt start until the first DD hits so you actually get 3 DD in that 30 days
(every 2 weeks) .....if that helps

Deposit cash
Add cash to your account at one of 90,000+ retailers nationwide. Just tell the cashier you want to deposit cash. You'll hand them the cash, swipe your debit card, and typically within two hours, your funds will be available in your account.

Our partners impose a small fee (up to $4.95), which will be deducted from your deposit by the retailer.

The maximum cash deposit limits will vary by retailer. Funds will typically be available within two hours after deposit. You may make up to 2 deposits per day, subject to per transaction limit of $500, daily maximum limit of up to $1000, and a monthly maximum limit of up to $5,000 per month.

I just found out yesterday that I can't schedule (monthly) automated transfers between accounts. At least not from SoFi to external accounts. What kind of bank doesn't have a scheduled auto-transfer feature?

Just have a secondary checking account open for bill pay purposes.

I love how they make us work for an APY that doesn't come close to competing with inflation

Doesn't this require a hard pull on credit check? As does the Chase one?

Can anyone confirm?

If that's the case, considering I already recently have one... Not sure this is ultimately worth it

update:. actually seems majority do not... but it's worth confirming with them before so for peace of mind..

Do you get 2% APY only on the amount that comes from a DD or you earn 2% APY on the total amount in your account (irrespective of from where the amount is coming as long as you are meeting DD requirements) ?
