Vacuuming my home with my Dyson, I would have to empty the canister 3-4 times (it would be full with carpet fibers). With my Miele, it only picks up the dust, so bags lasts me 3 months or so.
Look into SEBO too, another great German vacuum. Expensive depending on the model, but you will never have to buy another vacuum again.
