The same reason every subscription service does. So they can charge you when you forget to turn off auto-renewal.

Best Buy handles the payments for some subscription services. My Pandora subscription was through them for a while. Go look at Amazon and all of the 3rd party subscriptions you can purchase through them, it's really not that unusual.

Hasn't the Target deal actually expired? The codes issued haven't expired yet, but I thought you can't request the offer anymore.

I think they extended the expiration or something, it's available to be redeemed thru September something now
