They were in Federal Way, WA too.. but I had to pass as they seem like SMR drives.

These are perfect for a NAS. I've been running like 20 of these in UnRaid for the past 5 years, no problem at all.

You want CMR not SMR esp for NAS which has constant writes in raid or otherwise.

No you don't. As I said I run these for 5 years no issues at all. UnRaid have the ability to spin down / power down drives that are inactive. Is an awesome feature for SMR drives. It works

What is your current setup, e.g. what kind of drives??
Did you experience rebuild. i.e. fail of 1 drive?

Thanks

I have 48TB in a U-NAS-800 running a Mini-ITX Supermicro low power mobo, 8 X 8TB SMR Segates, all from Cosco. I have 2 similar UnRaid setup 48TB each, primary and secondary. In 5 years I only had 1 drive failed and looks like the control board got fried. It was an easy swap and rebuild in UnRaid. The beauty of this OS is that it spins down drives are not working, so I would say 90% of the times most drives are down.
