that is incorrect. i have worked in A/V retail and any item that is returned (even if in a sealed box) is opened and inspected. the item inside is checked against the serial number on the box to confirm the return along with any accessories. so ANYTHING that they receive in return is not sold as new. It could be sold as "OPEN BOX" but it is illegal to sell it as new.

The units that are being sold on woot are brand new, sealed, never used, never sold items.

This is BRAND NEW not refurbished. It is new and comes with 3 year Pioneer warranty (Linked directly on the woot page for this item).

wiring all depends on distance. for your fronts a smaller gauge wire may be fine. overheads and surrounds could easily require 50 ft or more per channel.
And I agree but like I said it depends how many channels your external amp has. Mine is a 2 channel external amp. A good 9 channel amp is like 2-3K if not more. They would probably pony up the cash for a better receiver than what I have anyway.

Does it have Chromecast built-in?
(I have an app, currently installed on my Chromecast with google TV that I use to stream music. But I have to keep the TV on in order to stream music. It'd be nice to be able to stream music directly through the receiver and not have the TV on)

I ordered the Pioneer VSX-LX304 this morning from woot for $599. I just saw this deal. Is VSX-LX305 worth $250 more ? Pls suggest. This is my first AV receiver ?

I think the main difference is the 305 has HDMI 2.1 ports, and the 304 has 2.0 ports.

I got this from Woot during the last sale and it's really nice. DIRAC is really comprehensive.

I bought a Slickdeals Panasonic UB9000 UHD Blu Ray player for $799 ($200 off best price anywhere else) from Woot 9 months ago (only item I have bought from them so far).
It was sold as NEW and was indeed in new condition (not a mark on it) and is working flawlessly to this day. It came in the original box.


I agree with you that anyone who is unsure whether a given product will suit them or not, should buy from another merchant who does not charge return shipping, especially on heavier items.
Keep in mind I saved $200 + tax (20%) by buying from Woot, so if you DO know what you like, you can get great deals on high end audiophile / videophile equipment (like uBid used to have with Adcom / Nakamichi etc. back in the day before they changed).

Like with any purchase, just make sure to check what condition a given item is sold as and what type of warranty it comes with.
And, as you pointed out, they take fully free returns (i.e. including prepaid return shipping by Woot) on defective items, so you're covered there.
