The initial yield rate when mass production started earlier in Fall of last year was 50% and they rapidly improved the yield rate to 85% which is much faster than LG which took them several years for their WOLED tvs. Not to mention the fact that Samsung Display only has one gen 8.5 line producing 30,000 substrates a month compared to LG display with 90k substrates a month. OLED tvs will get cheaper due to economies of scale, so we can see the price of QDOLED go even lower than the price of current WOLED if production capacity is increased.

We will most likely see Samsung Display announce by Q4 of this year or Q1 next year that they'll expand capacity to produce 60,000 substrates per month given that that they sold off their last lcd fab and need to transition to another display technology as soon as possible.

In the long run, if Samsung finishes their research for QNED and irons out all the kinks to enable mass production, we will see an even better display technology. The eventual evolution of qdoled is to replace the oled backlight with leds and it would be a qd-microled/nanoled display which is what QNED is. The equipment for QNED/QDOLED is similar except the expensive deposition machines for OLED are not necessary for QNED so the conversion of qdoled to qned wouldn't be difficult and QNED's launch price should theoretically be cheaper than qdoled. Of course this is likely a couple of years away from now happening the earliest by 2025 or 2026.

They didn't so much nerf the brightness as they improved accuracy. If all you care about is brightness and not picture quality, then buy an LED instead of OLED and set it to Vivid mode.

I can't think of anything less in the spirit of what this forum is all about than this comment.
I'd wager that all of us have the money for most of these things at their retail price, but we are here for the deals. We all know that a dollar saved feels better than a dollar earned. And so with that in mind, your comment makes little sense.

I mean most of them have a bit of a bend to the screen being they are so thin (mine also leans a touch forward), there are occasionally loud popping sounds due to the plastic expanding/contracting with heat, they dropped peak brightness from 1,500nits to 1,000nits for 5% and smaller highlights after v1211, Tizen is just an awful OS, it doesn't have a polarizer so in bright rooms blacks aren't super black (though reflection handling is great) and there are some weird issues with 7.1 LCPM over eARC just not working (5.1 is fine) and there might be issues with 5.1 LPCM on Xbox (don't have one, but heard talk)

That all said, I'm definitely enjoying picture the colors and viewing angle are insane (yes even for an OLED)
If you don't like Tizen (agree!) Why not just use a shield, cube, or any other device? Makes a world of difference, plus with higher ends like shield, it might just improve picture, especially upscaling sources/content

This is a good year for mid to upper end consumer products due to overstock and tightening economic conditions. Everybody has been calling it for a couple months now and I've gotten some great deals on some electronics (TVs, speakers, etc.) in the past month or two. Furniture is another area to keep an eye on this year if you need.
Bingo. Said it many times on many threads, and usually down voted. I'll say it again as a PSA, you won't have to wait years for prices to drop on any 2022 tech, merely just months. So buy when you NEED or your willpower has reached it limits 😇!

I still have the ks8000 also. Still looks great with zero problems. Why would you want to buy another TV if yours is still fine?
Just my experience and yours may be different but: KS8000 is great with bright scenes, doesn't handle dark scenes very well. I've tried messing with settings, but blacks just kind of wash out. Plus extra compatibility with current gen consoles & supply glut leading to lower prices for new TVs. KS8000 will go to bedroom and replace my 2009 Samsung plasma, which still looks great but is an absolute beast of a TV to manage, 50" is heavier than the 65" KS8000. Asking around on SD over the past week and reading forums, looks like there's a noticeable step up in image quality from KS8000 to OLED. And ready to go bigger Smilie

No contest at all, this will blow The Frame away in picture quality. The only thing the frame has going for it is it looking kind of like an art piece on the wall when not in use. If that's a huge deal for you, then you could consider it. Otherwise for every other mark of tv viewing and picture quality, it's no contest.

So you were able to get a price adjustment. I bought it at the 1725 price and Samsung Customer support would not do a price adjustment, rather they suggested I had to reject the first shipment when it arrives and reorder, which I did.
I wound up escalating to the rep's manager who was able to give me a credit but was on the chat for perhaps 1.5HRs cause I was disconnected from one rep and the second rep had to work their way through the process. Debating whether I want to do that or just refuse?

If they have to call to schedule, can I cancel then rather then them drag out the tv for me to say no?

Almost bought this until I read the processing crushes fine detail and it can't all be turned off. What's the point of 4K and a new tv if it's not really sharp with fine details.

You should go look at this Tv and make the decision with your own eyes
I have a LG G1( bought in December 2021) that I would trade in a heartbeat for this Samsung S95B
