iTunes credit can be used to purchase hardware. I purchased $50 of iTunes credit from Eneba a couple days ago and the Store app shows all $50 as eligible to use to pay for anything from local Apple stores, or shipped.

Thanks OP. Just bought one card. $84.98 after the discount code. Used PAYPAL with Discover card for a 5% cashback. So net $80.73 after considering the cashback.

This is incorrect. There's no longer separate gift cards for Apple media, etc. It's all under one single balance that could be used for apps, hardware, etc. I just added the $100 to my existing balance that I could use for anything Apple.

Yep, to beat this dead horse further it's all one balance now. That's why discount iTunes cards were so hot when they were making the transition.

Essentially (in this case) 15% off your final apple hardware purchase price on top of student discounts or whatever.
