1. Sign up for Google voice and select a free number.
2. Under settings -> account, Pay $3 to unlock.
3. Under settings -> voice-mail, enable "call to listen" which will allow you to add a pin. This pin will be your porting pin.

Phone number and the wireless account number will be same as the Google voice number.

How can I purchase this without having an AT&T account - the only option it shows me is transfer my number - I don't want to transfer the number.

Is there a place I can quickly (and cheap) get a phone number just for the purpose of transferring to AT&T
