I've been waiting on this deal for a while, and it seems like it hasn't gone on sale recently. saw it for $239 with free shipping and had to jump on it. The last good deal I saw on this set was $299.

Previous discussions on SD and reviews on Home Depot.

From what it sounds like to me, maybe Milwaukee is discovering the possible limitations to 18 volt? I have to wonder, are they developing a higher voltage battery platform? Dewalt has had one for years now.
Lol.. they've got some of the best & most powerful battery tools on the market - chainsaw, table saw, and miter saws that all use M18, and you think a weedwacker's the limit?

Milwaukee also has a double battery blower now. The Ego one is still almost 50 percent faster blowing speed. That says something.

Sounds like they are pulling a Makita on us with the double battery thing. I like the approach Dewalt took the best? Why? Dewalt's are backwards compatible.
Could very well be that their goal was simply longer runtime for the more commercial user..

I'm referring to the overheated battery issue, but I understand what you are saying. M18 has been around forever, and sooner, rather than later, I would think a new platform will come. However, when it does, you are not going to be able to use the new platform with these double battery tools they are releasing.

Side note: Their chainsaw isn't as powerful, or as long of a bar, as Ego's, either.

I think this is not bad idea with 2 batteries. You have the batteries just buy the new tool. I have 11 M18 batteries including 6 HO. Its great that I dont need to buy more and very expensive batteries. The tool that I want with 2 m18 batts is the Fuel vacuum.

If you are heavily invested in M18, and Milwaukee changes to a new battery line, all your batteries won't be usable in their new tools. That is, unless they take the Dewalt approach. Let's hope they do, but the double battery tools don't give me hope for that.

Since I'm already so invested in the Milwaukee M18 ecosystem, I really wanted this trimmer to be awesome, but it's just not. Worst Milwaukee tool I've ever owned and I have A LOT of Milwaukee tools. What a shame.

I'm also disappointed with this trimmer. It vibrates like hell and is much louder than my kobalt 80v trimmer. I prefer the kobalt but may just suffer thru the Milwaukee because I would like to consolidate my tools to just one brand

Received my trimmer. Did not receive the hedge trimmer attachment. I will have to call OPT and see what they say.
