I got the 6a for free (Xfinity Mobile) and I wouldn't recommend it. Had to disable 5G to prevent constantly heating up. Wifi-calling doesn't connect automatically without toggling Airplane Mode. Fingerprint scanner is very slow and inconsistent. Battery life just barely makes it through the day. Fast charging is significantly slower than my old Moto G. Google's support answer is to just send you another refurbished model if you have a problem. No way I'd pay $400 for this phone.

Very tempting. Is the "Unlimited" plan true unlimited or do they throttle you when you hit so many gig a month?

My S10 going strong. But I was checking the S22 on g fi.
300+100+tax ~ $450 for S22
339 + tax ~ $ 360 for p6a

If I add 60 for service, difference is about $150.

Is Pixel 6a better than S22? 6gb ram seems to be a concern. Not sure of other issues. I was most galaxy user and old nexus user.

How is the bandwidth/speed on Mint? How is the customer service? I'm currently on Google Fi. These other budget carriers are intriguing.
I was with Fi from their inception and switched to Mint 3 years ago. I don't have a single complaint. I'm in the NYC Metro area so my bandwidth/speed is never an issue.

Bandwidth is the same as Tmobile. You dont need customer service, thats why the plan is so inexpensive, $15 a month for 4gb and unl talk/text is the best anywhere except for Djibouti.

Can existing Mint customers use this? If not, is there an easy way to get a number to port in?

LOL, we just bought an "excellent" GSM unlocked S10e and S10 on ebay under $200 each for a niece and nephew (they keep losing or destroying their phones). I plan to get an S10+ once their "very good" flirt closer to $200. one of the many MVNO's i dealt with while searching for new options after the 3g shutdown in february (when many 4gLTE Volte phones still didn't work in:out voice) - told me they only support android 12 phones - that was very funny... they'll say anything to provoke you into buying the latest model phone.

Many people give this phone bad reviews. Looks like its a dumping event when a new phone and a year's service are so cheap.

Keep in mind Mint is a MVNO (mobile virtual network operator) who buys service from big networks who can throttle you down to preserve their primary service.

Mint uses T-Mobile

I want a 5A but its still more popular than 6a and hard to find new (Google still selling for same price as 6a)

Well, coverage map said I was covered but I had to drive half a mile to get service. Called CS and they insisted I had coverage. A couple calls to CS later they said try Wi-Fi calling and they couldn't help me get that to work either on an iPhone SE. after I cancelled the service they tried to bill be for another 3 months so I had to call them a few more times to get my $60 back. Lots of calling CS from a 2nd phone.

I was not impressed and that's coming from someone who has used a lot of cheap prepaid services.

With the amount of deals on '6a' only; I'd say this is a super cheap and massively overproduced phone that has been released in a while.
The 6a was just released a couple of weeks ago, so phone companies are offering deals on the new release phone to entice people. The 6a is a lower tier version of the Pixel 6, much like the SE version of the iPhone. It has many of the new features of the 6, but they scale back some of the hardware in order to make a cheaper option. When the 6 came out, last year, I was able to get it practically for free (I paid a little extra for more storage) through deals with Verizon. And it's Google's flagship phone that many think is a great competitor to Samsung and Apple (especially with the lower price).

I wonder why they put GG3 on it. How much more would it have cost to put something better on it? With GG5 I would have gone for this.

They don't support it doesn't mean it won't work
ex. Mint doesn't support eSim on Samsung s22 but I have it working fine last 3 months
