HBO Max doing subscription sales knowing that they have a ton of pending cancellations with their upcoming merger & terrible decisions regarding removal of content
and it looks like HBO Max has discounted subscription for the 1 year plans right now: $105 without ads or $70 with ads. Combined with this capital one cash back, it'd be $77 without ads or $60 with ads. That seems pretty good.
Too bad HBO Max is deleting a bunch of their originals and lowering the amount of content available, guess that's why there's a lot of sales on subscriptions now.

This is because HBO Max is basically a rebranding of their former HBO Go/Now which are only 1080p. So all the content that hard in HDR are new content. Old movies and shows are still 1080p from whenever they had their content before.
There are shows from this year that aren't in 4K though.

Really? 1 year without ads is $105? Ad free is for $150

If you go to their website, there's a big purple banner at the top that says "SAVE OVER 40% WHEN YOU PREPAY FOR A YEAR"
Click on it and it shows $69.99/yr with ads, $104.99/yr ad-free
To warn folks that the service they are buying now won't necessarily be what they are going to get a year from now. Less quality series (HBO max even spent more per ep on reality TV than discovery does), more cheap stuff from discovery+, one of the least popular streaming services.
This is a one year subscription. What happens after the merger won't matter as the sub will be in its last month or ended. It'll give current subscribers an opportunity to see if it's worth a renewal. Win-win.
Could someone tell me what I am doing wrong to get the lowered price. I logged in under capital one went to the promotional link with the cash back rebate when I log in under yearly ad-free plans it says the cost is $149.00 why is it so high?. Something is not right, because I can't match the prices posted here. Help?
I'm having the same issue, were you able to het the $105 price?
Say I have already redeemed a different offer for $7.00 off monthly plan with a non-Capital One card from a different offer host. For next billing period can I use this offer with my CO card? Would a different person on the HBO Max account have to use their CO card to pay? Would I need to wait for the subscription time to end?
I guess the most succinct query is is the offer per rewards account or per HBO account? If it's per rewards account, assuming it lasts, we could theoretically use one offer each for 4 months in a row?
I called Capital One CS when I didn't see anything on the CO receipt about this offer. I was transferred twice, finally getting someone in marketing who STILL didn't understand that this was a promotion from their website and Not through Capital One shopping. When I read her the wording from the site, she said "That'll take three months to process, you'll see it in December." I think I'll look into canceling as "possibly" getting a statement credit in three months doesn't cut it. I have friends who I can swap streaming logins with, so definitely having some buyer's remorse about this purchase.

It is possible that it may take 3 months like certain cashback sites but not having any kind of way to track the progress is annoying. They did provide a transaction ID though when I signed up so hopefully it will come through. But I have lost confidence in Capital One offers going forward.

Please don't be so quick to act offended, the world has enough people like that already.
