HBO Max doing subscription sales knowing that they have a ton of pending cancellations with their upcoming merger & terrible decisions regarding removal of content
and it looks like HBO Max has discounted subscription for the 1 year plans right now: $105 without ads or $70 with ads. Combined with this capital one cash back, it'd be $77 without ads or $60 with ads. That seems pretty good.
Too bad HBO Max is deleting a bunch of their originals and lowering the amount of content available, guess that's why there's a lot of sales on subscriptions now.

4 billing cycles for me. Never got my $27. I rarely use this card but decided to use it for the deal. Kind of annoyed. Honestly only purchased because I figured $75 wasn't a horrible deal but didn't really care for it. All my other CC rewards are posted next billing cycle. Luckily I paid it off as soon as the purchase posted or I probably would have paid $100 in interest waiting for my $27. Finally caved in and called today. CS rep was nice. Confirmed the HBO max annual plan purchase but not much more than that. Was told it would be escalated and I'd receive an email response with the outcome in 10-12 business days. So yeah, never trusting the rewards on this card again 😂
I finally received the $27 credit, but I had to call Capital One last week.
They were polite and I got bounced around between a few agents. Eventually they said that I did not meet the terms of the promotion (clicking on the promotion page and then signing up for a new account within 24 hours). I know that I met the terms and opened the link/signed up immediately, but they didn't see it from their side. They said that I would not necessarily receive an email from them confirming the promotion, as it depends on the data that they receive from the merchant. Then they provided me with a courtesy credit.
I'm glad to have received the credit, but the experience has left a bit of a sour taste in my mouth, especially when I saw that AMEX had a similar promotion ($25 back when spending more than $99), and I doubt that I would have had to jump through as many hoops.
Just a heads up to anyone like me who bit on this offer: I noticed I never received the promised statement credit. I just filed a BBB complaint. Link: https://www.bbb.org/us/ut/salt-la...0714-11362
This is a fake deal, typical bait and switch. I will no longer use their referral protal given the poor experience. It was a trial use to me and they have lost my trust. I'd consider it a $15 investment to test out their offers. It's upsetting but not the end of the world. At least I'm able to rule out one portal. There are many other options for referral bonuses.
Called Capital One and was told it was HBO Max's responsibility and I would have to contact them. Contacted HBO Max and was told they have no record of such an offer.

I would try calling Capital One again. I have seen a number of people say they called and got it corrected. Speaking of which, thanks for reminding me I need to call them since mine still has never showed up and I do not think it ever will without calling.
I also never got my credit. Called in, got transferred to the offers department where they gave me $27 as a one time "courtesy". Asked the rep how to redeem these properly in the future and they rattled off the terms and conditions.
Just realized I had not received my credit as of yet, I've passed the required number of statements. I'm seeing this is the same for many others. Guess I will have to call.
Got off the phone with them earlier. Took 10 minutes person put in a ticket for their manager and said they will email me 9-12 days when it goes through. Was it instant for all you guys for the correction?

No, they told me the same 9-12 days, but I received the credit 7 days after I called.
what number is everyone calling to get to speak with a rep? Is it the number on the back of the C1 card? I can't find anything on the site as far as contacting them otherwise and don't want to waste more time than I already have on this if I don't have to.

If you're new to HBO Max, the older content like Peacemaker and Harley Quinn TV are great watches too.
