The above said, I'd consider these one step above drywall screws, and the star drive is also an improvement especially if you ever think you'll need to remove them, or driving them might be tough (phillips is designed to cam out which will destroy the screw)
Unless there is something very odd going on, you will not have half of your screws snap in one year. In fact, I would expect no screws to snap in a year, and few to ever snap. Framing with screws is the lazy way out for those of us who don't have framing nailers. I have done it a ton and never had a snapped screw other than when I snap one while driving the screw.
Screwed frames would have one advantage on the highway. They will be more ridged because the fastened joints are tighter and less able to move. Vibration is less likely to knock a screwed structure out of square and lose structural integrity. Obviously screwed frames are much more likely to snap from vibrating, though.
FYI, I'm no framing expert but do have a civil engineering degree.
For traditional glued/screwed indoor furniture projects, these will work as well or better than most screws, but it's overkill. The Fas-n-tite box of wood screws sold in-store at Walmart are a bargain ($14 for a 465 piece assorted length box). Plain yellow zinc plated, drive easily. A lot of people will use drywall screws for indoor furniture. Those work well, too.

These screws are not good in general. Coating fails to quick and as stated above they have no specification on tensile strength or shear strength for load bearing framing.
Only screws I would use are specifically tested for framing and have code compliant rating.
For decking use Camo Screws
For framing use a Simpson framing screw
