I'm a lifelong musician and know good instruments though banjo isn't my primary axe; I've had one of the Goodtime banjos since the early 2000's and can tell you it's a rock solid high-quality instrument and totally worth buying.

Niche product for sure, but this is a great deal on the best bang-for-buck banjo you can buy.

Heck of a buy. Always wanted to learn banjo as I love bluegrass so I'm on it now. I'm 65 now and have over 50 years of acoustic and electric guitars under my belt. So I hope I can learn to play respectably before I punch my ticket.

Thank OP for posting this deal. It pushed me to finally do this.

True. I pick the Banjer and this has been the recommended entry level banjo for a very long time.

Staggeringly good deal. Anyone looking to get into banjo should jump on this deal.

Regular price is $599 from Deering:

You can also add a resonator as an upgrade at a later time if you're interested:

Deering also provides solid support. Great company, great banjo.

The volume won't be there, but this should be a front page deal.

Like everyone else said these are great banjos. I like them without the resonator they're much lighter but obviously not as loud. Nice quality and last I knew American made.

Heard this gets all the ladies

Well I am 65 and have a wonderful lady for many years now. If you think a musical instrument will get you the ladies you probably are lacking in the instrument that matters.

Wth are the chances of this. I swear, I was looking at this Banjo today. How does a random item like a banjo just pop up on slick deals.

Just learned that a banjo could be made out of a hubcap. That's the charm these instruments have; the more someone overpays for a banjo, it's no longer a banjo.

Perfect pitch? That's when you toss a banjo into a dumpster and it doesn't touch the sides.

Serious though - I think if you're a beginner thinking about a banjo I would get one with a resonator, or price putting a resonator on this. This is open back and it won't have a lot of volume. You won't get that hard-driving bluegrass sound.

Unbelievable. I am actually saving up for a banjo right now. Don't quite have $400 though. And now this shows up and gets recommendations in the comments??

I am also 65 and have played the guitar for over 50 years. I have loved the sound of a banjo since I was a kid (even before the movie Deliverance). I hope this keeps me picking and grinning in retirement. Shout out to Corey at Pineville music! He was very helpful and a fast shipper too!

I sang in a bluegrass band when I was at Clemson (I'm now 60), and I was always amazed at how good our banjo player was. I always wanted one!
